So... Four Kids Japan?

Not as bad as Four Kids. The voice actors will still be decent and the new anime will be written pre-bowdlerized, so it'll do less harm than censoring an existing work.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyWow...this is quite possibly the biggest overreaction yet we've seen in this fear mongering mess.
I mean holy crap, isn't already an established fact that Sankaku Complex is little more then a blog rag? Who actually can seriously trust that site, seriously if you represented evidence form that site to any rational person in an argument you'd probably be discredited immediately.
I mean look at the actual article it's nothing but Artefact making assumptions and unbased inferences off the text, notice how MX said they were thinking about a policy change? Not, we are making one. Jesus it's like people will believe anything now if it supports their position, seriously this is the bit where Artefact pulls crap form thin air and everyone slams on the panic button likes it's some contest.
And yeah magazines never lie ever, never has false information ever been printed in a magazine, if a magazine says it, it must be true, especially if we don't even know the name of it or it's history.
Thanks for snapping me out of that, World Tree. Alright, back to ignoring the bill.

I still think you go too far into the other direction, though.
^Agreed. It's not the end of anime and manga, but acting like the passing of a law will not do anything at all is just as extreme as thinking the media will die.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyOh, extremists. I agree, saying that HOLY SHIT IT'S THE END OF ANIME/MANGA NOOO is silly, but saying that nothing's going to happen at all is equally silly.
I dropped that sentiment a long time ago, however, when you claim the situation is getting worse by using Sankaku Complex as your source then something is obviously very wrong.
Yeah, maybe I'm overreacting a bit.
Why I am afraid of fences. The total lack of updates from any 'more serious' sources is bloody exhasperating.
Hasn't this thing not even fully passed yet? Doesn't it have to pass a second time still?
"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Another point passed up in the mad panic, most people don't even know about this bill hence why it passed in the first place.
Most TV stations have more important things to talk about, most politicians are busy with other very important political events going on right now, and the majority of the populace already thought the bill was shut down the first time it went through, Ishihara submitted it again and kept a lid on it, the opponents didn't notice either and couldn't raise enough of a stir in time to shut the bill down.
Seriously, they aren't jumping up and down in the streets right now you know.
Yeah, as far as social injustices go, this doesn't compare at all to the ongoing Egyptian Revolution, so its hard for me to really care atm.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.[1] and so it claims its first victim.... Seriously this is going to be even worse then I thought...
In a series of exchanges on Twitter, Hotate explains that new copies of the first volume of his manga Itoko Ichidori will no longer be available as the publisher has cancelled them.
The title had been selling well enough to require an additional printing, and it was at that juncture the state stepped in to ban its sale.
The manga is also serialised in Young Comic, which carries ecchi titles and is marketed towards adults but is not considered an 18+ hardcore ero-manga.
It is not yet clear whether it will lose its serialisation in Young Comic or be cancelled outright as a result of the ban, although both do seem likely.
Several other manga titles have already been listed as “harmful” – the only reason given for the bans is a vague condemnation on the grounds that the titles “stimulate sexual desire and impede the healthy development of youth.”
As if to add insult to injury, on the same page that manga are being denounced as harmful, the film “Amazing Grace” is being officially commended as “promoting healthy development” – it certainly appears that the Tokyo government’s official position is now “3D good, 2D bad.”
Striking is the fact that whilst the law only affects Tokyo, the reprint has been completely cancelled for the entire country – clearly demonstrating that Ishihara’s meddling has already become a de facto national backdoor ban on anything he and his cronies in Tokyo deem “harmful literature.”

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Nice how the article doesn't even give us the name of the manga, and if that image is one of the covers then I don't really think we lost much considering the thing was out of print already.
And low and behold, that list of "unhealthy manga"? A grand whopping total of FOUR, manga! Oh wow the industry is totally dead now! It's not like there aren't thousands of manga and anime out there, four, it even has a death pun!
Seriously can any doomsayers post anything not from Sankaku Complex?
Umm do you even read the article? Its the first volume of an on going manga called Itoko Ichidori its popular enough that they were going to reprint it but now no. [1] and the 4 are just going to be just the beginning.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!My hopes that this won't pass the second time are growing. Especially recently learning that 80% of Japan thinks this bill is completely stupid.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."I just wanted to say I fucking hate the inability to get straight, reliable info from anime fans.
Doesn't that apply to nearly all fandoms?
Anyways, the only thing I'm seriously waiting for is the Tokyo Anime Fair to take place, I'm curious to see photos and reports of how it looks after a bunch of companies backed out in protest. Hoping it'll be a disaster, but...there are still quite a few companies in it.
That said, WHEN does it take place anyways?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."You know, something popped in my head. If the Egyptians can protest and win, why can't the Japanese? Like Anno said, 80% think this bill is stupid so why not just have them do protests to tell them what they think?
Also, I haven't heard of Itoko Ichidori until now, so if they aim for the obscure Manga, this might not be a problem.

Thats what the Boycott is about. [1] the other Wiki's article on the law is far too disturbing. (Strange I cant seem to get the link to work... the Tokyo Anime Fair has one.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Anime_Fair and it looks like its going to be at the end of march.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!^^ Japanese tend to be pretty gutless outside of the internet, unless something gets them riled up into patriotic fervor (like that stupid boat crash incident), most of the time they just bend over submissively...
Granted the japanese aren't the only ones like this. But this has been what I've notice throughout the years. Their inability to do anything against the american military base despite all the shit they do, their pulling down Axis Powers Hetalia after Korean protest in Korea, pushing back Jojos Bizarre Adventure anime after Muslim protest despite the lack of actual significant Muslim presence in Japan, and pulling down Rape Lay after foreign feminist objections...
It's...not enviable.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary.""First they came for the Jews, but I wasn't a Jew, so I didn't worry. Then they came for the Catholics, but I wasn't a Catholic, so I didn't worry..."
And I doubt we'll see any protests like the Egypt ones. Apples and oranges, people. Apples and oranges.

Just pointing out here that censoring a work pre-emptively is no better than censoring it after the fact—its still an overall detriment to the work.
In fact I'd actually say its kind of worse—at least if you don't like the 4Kids version, you can go to cdjapan and order the version that doesn't suck. But if the un-sucky version isn't even allowed to exist, you have NO options.
Just sayin'.

Nah, it'll still exist, it'll just be dumbed-down for younger audiences.
