It depends really. Smash more often than not is usually "a game late" due to how development works, depending on the game of the game and the Smash date.

The ironic thing is how speculation and leaks were made incompatible during 4's speculation. Because of Gematsu repeatedly leaking, almost all speculation talk just died bybthe second E3. His list was the be all end all to many, and discussion was shut down because "Character X is not on his list so they aren't happening." It's only after Robin and Lucina's reveal that showed that the leak wasn't infallible and speculation started up again.....after the discussion of "Was he real or fake" got underway.

About damage meter color progression throughout the series: the color progression I like best would be the one seen in Brawl (this is not because of nostalgia playing it the most amongst all the other Smash games in my life, the gameplay's aged poorly). After white and pink, the red color that shows up on damage percentages of a couple hundreds is akin to fresh blood and thus really fit the Darker and Edgier nature of Brawl, and the maroon it goes to after can be taken as that fresh red blood turning to a brown-like color after oxidizing as in real life. Having no sign of red colors with 64 and Melee's damage meters feels off, and the appearance of yellow (light and pure) and orange (yellow-orange and red-orange) in 4 and Ultimate doesn't really gel that well to me — with video games in general slowly getting more violent/dark (based on release date) since Brawl came out.

Project M...is just Brawl, it has Brawl's trophies.

it’s basically Brawl’s roster, stages, and graphics plus Melee’s gameplay with Mewtwo and Roy returning.

Project+ is a successor that adds in one planned character for PM (Knuckles)

They have their own "Battlefield/Omega" alterations of existing stage and a training stage.

I believe P+ also changes training mode to be in line with current fighting games with frame data and hitboxes.

I wouldn’t know because I’ve never played Project+. The only mod I played was Smash Bros Infinite, a mod that adds in a ton of characters either as full on slots or skins.

According to the SSB Wiki, the "No items/Fox only/Final Destination" meme originated from a former Smashboards member (who actually used Captain Falcon), who got upset about the changes from Melee to Brawl and would often send death threats to Sakurai and casual players. Needless to say, even the competitive community thought he was off his rocker.

The people who actually play like that tend to have the most boring play style ever.

Like my ex-friends. They’d only play on FD or Omega forms.

The fact that people who think that’s a good mindset are boring is the whole point of the meme.

Yeah, I've always interpreted the meme in its current form to be mocking restrictions that wannabe-competitive players put on the game.

There should be serious tournaments dedicated solely to playing as low-tier characters.

Too bad the "Spirit Supremacy" winner banners (from December 2022) don't say which spirit I used to win with, I would've loved to brag about using Galeem or Dharkon.

The fact that Sakurai tried to please that camp with the For Glory mode in Smash 4 only made the situation worse, especially because of how undercooked that mode was.

I'm more surprised that people think it was a genuinely good mode.

And maybe with the way online is handled in Ultimate...it would be better, but it was awful.

Omega stages with no items, only smash balls/final smash meter, where always the house rules, and I wasn't really the one to force them. I just find "Smash should be just chaos" not that fun, but to each their own, the key is to have fun anyway.

Look at Fancy Pants Jones over here allowing Final Smashes.

Whenever I played with my brother's rules, it was just Omega stages with no items and no Final Smashes.

I typically play Smashdown on large Battlefield with no items but all songs against 4 CP Us. Pretty enjoyable for me.

The most restrictive I get with my own ruleset is I only use the Battlefield or Omega version of Great Cave Offensive and never use Pac Land.
