[up][up][up][up]: Mystia. The Prismrivers. Yuuka. (and technically Reimu and Marisa, but they showed up later anyway) and that's just those with spellcards.

'While looking for news, I was suddenly attacked. A noiseless, irrational fear. I hope that feeling comes out in the photos...' (Taboo 'Forbidden Fruit'*

)

'I was fairly sure vampires were weak to the cross symbol, but it doesn't seem like it. She just came out and played with it...' (Taboo 'Forbidden Games'*

)

[up] Mystia's not in St B because you can't take photographs if you're BLIND.

Or she's not afraid of vampires generally but something about Flandre frightens her.

[up][up][up]I did notice part of that actually. After PoFV, Yuuka seems to disappear aside from her Perfect Memento article. Isn't it awfully convenient*

that Yuuka doesn't have an entry in Marisa's book? But I digress.

Blood is Amazing!

I'm running out of things to say. I don't want to waste all my Flandre talk before we get to her.

No Po FV spellcards appear in the Grimoire. Tewi, Medicine, Komachi and Shikieiki all have non-Po FV spellcards in their entries. Yuuka's only spellcards appear in Po FV.

[up] If you say that one more time, I swear I will drink you dry.

Well, its just Bright Future 6.
Oh yeah, that one! Already read it, but I didn't regret doing so again. Very, very sweet.

Maybe it's because Marisa already HAS written about the best Yuuka had *

?

And that Po FV related stuff only works for the grimoire, not STB. Hell, all ZUN needed to do really for Yuuka to put her in was bring back attacks from LLS and name them.

More like Mistress Spark.

[up][up]That was my point. If she wrote about Yuuka's spell cards, I'd expect a lot of ass covering about stealing moves and half assed "explanations" about how her*

moves are totally different and better. (I say moves, plural, because I notice that a lot of Marisa's spell cards in the book seem to use the Master Spark in some way. I think one of them even uses it backwards somehow)

Yuuka DOES have attack patterns other than the Master Spark. and don't forget, Marisa could take Yuuka back when the latter had the Spark and BEFORE the spellcard rules were implemented.

I know. Marisa has non-Master Spark moves too (surprising, I know). However, the Master Spark is their signature, at least as far as I can tell.

Actually, a Yuuka entry in the Go M with ass covering and halfassed excuses when it comes to the Master Spark would actually have been nice...

Yuuka's other main trick is cloning, a trick which even Stage 2 bosses have mastered. Well, one Stage 2 boss. The hardest one. But still.

Marisa's entry in the Grimoire of Marisa lists Magic Sign 'Milky Way', Black Magic 'Event Horizon', Love Sign 'Master Spark', Light Blast 'Shoot the Moon', 'Blazing Star', and Star Sign 'Dragon Meteor'*

.

Because that's only shown up as her MS bomb and in Po FV.

[up][up][up]I do recall that several of those somehow involve manipulating the Master Spark. Blazing Star uses the "backwards Master Spark" and Dragon Meteor uses a downwards Master Spark. Not as many as I assumed, but half of her moves either directly are or are variants of the Master Spark (a move that wasn't even hers to begin with).

[up][up]Yuuka didn't get associated with flowers until Po FV. In the PC-98 stuff, she was just a strong youkai.

ON TOPIC (Mostly):I always thought flandre was kept in the basement because she was mentally unstable, which mixed with the power to destroy anything...

She could leave any time she wanted, and it's not like there's much they could do to stop her, it's just that she respects Remi enough to listen to her.

EDIT: [up]Also consider that most fans haven't played the PC-98 games.

Not quite, otherarrow. As I mentioned, she does use flower imagerly for her MS bomb.

[up]Oh? OK. I didn't know that.

I still don't want to waste my (few) Flandre points before we get there. Sorry. I just don't want it to come Flandre's turn and have me go "I said all my Flandre stuff when we were back on Remilia." I'll just say this: Flandre respects Remilia, in her own way. I like to think that Remilia does care for Flandre, but she may not know exactly what would be the best way to go about caring for her. What is going on now seems to work?

It seems to be working fine, but I think we're seeing a downside to this eternal childhood business. Imagine being, say, 11 and finding yourself Promoted To Parent. Some people might be able to handle that gracefully, but I don't blame Remilia for being a little flummoxed.

You know, if all vampires are childlike, perhaps a good number of them might have powers that aid them in gathering and/or controlling servants who will keep them in check. It probably isn't quite like Then Break Through the Night, but having an image to maintain might not be the only reason they need an entourage.

I have no doubt that Remilia cares for her sister, but I am equally sure that she is, frankly, a pathetic caregiver.

Now that I think about it, being a vampire in Touhou isn't exactly all sparkles and charisma. Being forced to stay a child, having to gather minions to both protect you and keep you well fed without risk of you being staked, plus having to deal with the whole weakness set, sunlight, running water and so on, I can see how it could be stressful.

Well, nobody respects privacy or the sanctity of one's home in Gensokyo. Its not surprising that that carried over to vampires.

You know, it would be funny if that carried through to the ordinary citizens of the human village. Like, all day it's petty theft and slapfights.
