Yeah. Scarlet. Red. Aside from Patchy (the guest) all the residents are somehow red/linked with red. (forgot about Sakuya's eyes, honestly). I brought this up before.
It may have been blocked because of my "the mansion is alive and only accepts scarlet-related people as 'true residents'" idea. (although the only not red related is Patchy, who is more of an eternal guest. Hmm.)
I do wish we knew the history behind the Scarlet family. I think someone before brought up that we know nothing about their backstory aside from the basics. I like the idea of vampire lord(s) Percival and Whateverwedecidedon Scarlet owning the mansion before their daughters. Of course, then you have to deal with getting rid of them so that Remilia and the other one can have the existence they have in canon.
PREDIT:Oh hey! Pulse did a write up! I liked it. I like the concept of Sakuya giving a tour, and I liked how you worked the family history into there (including potential answers to the questions I gave above).
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Percival and Mathilde moved to America to feast on the inhabitants of the new world, leaving the house and care of Flandre to Remilia. They currently live in a penthouse apartment in Toronto.
Heart of StoneEven for the shipping crazy Touhou fandom its a bit weird to think of Remilia and Patchy as friends with benefits.
Certainly, if by "weird", you mean "sickening".

Maybe there used to be an entire family in that mansion, and they are the last two that remain. Wouldn't be surprising if that were the reason they came to Gensokyo.
Sickening is one of the many shades of weird that I mean.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAh, so you're taking a more traditional, H. P. Lovecraft-style definition of the word. In that case, I approve.
@asterism; Percival can't be a "Sir" because that would require him to be British. He is French-by-way-of-Scandinavia, and he will have nothing to do with those fools, thank you very much.
I sure said that! Then he can have a French title. I think 'Chevalier' is the equivalent, although 'Comte' would probably be the most fitting, because then that would make Remilia a countess.
Heart of Stone... Fair point. I chose not to bring it up, mostly because, as a stupid American, I has no knowledge of French titles. (I knew they had them, of course, but not what they were exactly.)
I sure said that! For Sale - Elegant Lakeside Property
Scarlet Devil Mansion, located on the beautiful shores of Mist Lake, is a must buy property suited for any buyer looking to move up in the world. Originally built in 1501 by Count Percival Scarlet, intented as a country retreat for himself and his wife Mathilde, the house has been heavily renovated over the years. The extensive gardens, first laid out in 1725, have, like the house, been heavily modified over the years, but remain one of the finest examples of 18th century landscaping, containing what was once called the finest hedge maze in West Europe, an Italian Garden, three tropical greenhouses, a rose garden, a tennis court, a paved area perfect for garden parties, a beautiful lawn extending from the house, a boat house and extensive parks and woodland.
The interior is no less spectacular. The many, many bedrooms are all uniquely furnished in styles reflecting the periods in which they were first built, and all have en-suite bathrooms with bath and seperate shower, toilet and sink. In addition to this, the master bedroom has a beautiful wide balcony, ideal for some personal time. The mansion's dining room, once claimed to be able to fit the entire French court in one sitting, and is indeed incredibly large. The windows have magnificent vistas of the grounds below, guaranteed to lighten up any meal. The kitchens are large and well-stocked with many appliances suited for cooking styles of many different cultures, sure to delight any gourmet. The mansion also contains a sun terrace, a concert hall, an art gallery, a conservatory, a ballroom designed to open up onto the lawn to allow the revellers to watch the rising full moon, a magnificent clock tower with a well-tuned fully working bell, an observatory, a chapel, a shrine, a temple, a mosque, an extraordinary pipe organ loacted in its own personal chamber, a drawing room, a sitting room, a smoking room, a parlour, a freshwater swimming pool, a sauna, extensive rooms for the serving staff, and many, many others.
The jewel of this property, however, is Voile, the Library located in the basement. Voile's miles of shelfspace are claimed to carry a copy of every book ever written* , but certainly carry an extensive collection of literature, including books that cannot be found anywhere else. The library corkscrews deep below the mansion, but I can assure you that it is in no danger of undermining the house's foundation or of breaking through into the lake. The main treasure is the collection of magical tomes, guaranteed to delight even an amateur practicioner of magic. A professional I'm sure would give their right arm to be even given a glimpse of Voile's tomes. Sadly this treasure is often the target of thieves, and several tomes have gone missing over the past few years. The library also contains a saltwater swimming pool/artificial beach, as well as a rocket bay. I felt that it was best not to ask.
The rest of the mansion's basement is an astounding labyrinth of halls and tunnels, although I cannot discern the purpose of this labyrtinth, and the current owner was disinclined to enlighten me. There is a floorplan of the basement located in Voile, as well as, bizzarely, a set of bedrooms and kitchens deep below the ground. I assume these are guestrooms, although there is plenty of space aboveground. There is also a surprisingly spacious wine celler, although it is poorly stocked, as the current owner does not drink wine.
Overall, a unique and delightful property guaranteed to suit any buyer. Price on request, includes cost of hiring servants.
Caveat: if you are not fond of the colour red, I suggest you put aside some money for redecorating.

Heart of StoneHuh huh huh? My FIRST EVER write up! What do you think?

Heart of StoneIts pretty good. The thought of a Gensokyo Real Estate Company reminds me of one of the manzai sketches.
I liked the last line.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI liked it. I think you focused a little too much on the library, but then again, it is the most notable part of the mansion.
I do like how you noted that the current owner doesn't drink....wine. <bad attempt at doing a Bela Lugosi impression in text>

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.My friend's a huge fan of the color red, she'll probably be all over the mansion trying to buy it (coincidentally, I tagged her as Remilia once on a fb picture).
That awkward moment where Kyoro is one of Satan's Generals. But before she could paint it back the mansion became haunted by ghosts. Two weeks later, Parsee received a mysterious letter telling her she won a free lakeside mansion.
Thus it became:
PARSEE'S MANSION
Now that that silly off-topic fangame idea is out of the way, on to my write-up.
I have no horse, and I must ride. I accomplish unlockments.Responding to 5 pages of posts as I read them, so probably ninja'd:
Incidentally, there's also a Japanese myth about Amaterasu hiding in a cave with similar results.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. I'd go into more detail if we were discussing Remilia.
It's still not a name-name. I watched a Japanese character introduction video that included all the names in romaji too (probably because ZUN does) and the romanization for 小悪魔 was listed as "Little Devil". I don't think the Japanese think of it as a name at all, just a description. Like "book reading youkai" for that Kourindou visitor. Daiyousei was also listed as "Greater Fairy".
Remilia's profile says she can't reproduce because she can't drink enough blood, so it is implied that and only that is how vampirism spreads.
It never says she needed to drink all the blood to vampirize someone, just enough to kill them. Although it also says that she spills most of it anyway, which is where she got her nickname (because of her bloodstained clothes).
She also has a spellcard in IAMP called "Inscribed Red Soul". Which could also be taken as evidence of fatehax, if you like.
How can you look at the surname "Scarlet" and not think English? Who cares what their given names are: the surname is English. Given that vampirism is likely to be spread by biting people, it's especially reasonable that the children could come from different countries than the family itself.
Perhaps Patchy is a Scarlet Witch?
...
-facepalm-

That awkward moment where Kyoro is one of Satan's Generals.Percival in my oddball little story was in France for a darn long time; If he had a title, he wouldn't have been using it much, lest people wonder why the aide was still alive two hundred years after the death of the king or somesuch. I wasn't really going for a super serious story; you may have noticed his manor of death.
Actually, I think at least one of Patches' ribbons is red. It's not much, but now the six permanent members of the SDM household have something about them that's red.

"Seriously, don't eat the mermaid. And not just because it's half cannibalism." ~OtherarrowPatchouli plants have pinkish flowers. Maybe that counts?
Hah hah, make fun of the stupid autocomplete typo. Freakin' iPhone...
I sure said that!
I like the bit about the Scarlet sister's grandfather presumably beating Gungnir and Laevatein out of the Norse gods. And I like the weaksauce way Sir Percival and Mathilde Scarlet died. I wouldn't be surprised if that's just how Remilia vaguely remembers it after five hundred years.
I think the Patchy looking witch was implied to be Patchy's mother grandmother. And that Remilia was making shit up. Considering that the story ends with Remilia inviting Patchy to "do that bedtop sport for indoor types" I'm pretty sure she was just being silly.
Even for the shipping crazy Touhou fandom its a bit weird to think of Remilia and Patchy as friends with benefits.
