You know instead of just adding China, and mangling it's governmental system to conform with the game's feudal mechanics, they should ether expand role playing opportunities, or culture. I mean restoring the Roman Empire would probably lead to a lot of cultural intermingling, the kind art historians love to gush about, and in the more vanilla CK 2 timeline you have the Abasid and Umayid Caliphates, the Macedonian Dynasty, the Komonii restoration, the Italian City states, and Frederick the Second's Sicily.

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.

Well, I started my first Kaiserreich game in months. Playing as the US, I failed to stop the Second American Civil War from happening, but I did manage to win it. The Syndicalists, Southerners, and Pacificers were, one by one, overwhelmed. Now, while Hawaii and New England are still out of our reach, hopefully with the Monroe Doctrine focuses I can bring them back into the main fold, considering Hawaii broke free, New England joined the Entente, and the British took over Alaska, along with places like Guam.

New England isn't out of reach, you simply haven't tried to grasp it yet - the Entente is a pathetic joke made up of assorted rump states. New England is probably about as powerful as most entire Entente nations, and if you could defeat the American revolters, you can defeat the monarchist scum, too.

EDIT: Which British took Alaska? Union or Canadian?

Started a new game as Transamur, a tiny little puppet of Japan that has been described as "a navy with a nation", and accordingly, despite only being able to muster ~55k men under arms, the Kolchak regime has three battleships in service and the navy eats half of the available manpower, leaving too few men to fill the starting nine divisions or deploy the two new heavy cruisers in production.

And from this, I intend to reclaim Russia as the rightful ruler. Also, gonna bring back democracy, even as it fails in the west after Kerenesky's death. And get payback for the humiliation in the Russo-Japanese War.

My initial strategy is to reduce division size and make up some of the difference with quality (cut INF company allotment in half, add artillery, and replace all INF with MAR). Reclaiming my initial cores should double my manpower, which should help get the ball rolling. After that, I think I get events or focuses to core the rest of Russia bit-by-bit.

Canadians did. Also I'm pretty sure through the Monroe Doctrine focus tree I can get them back peacefully, especially since the war's over.

But true, I guess the Entente is sort of weak; it's the French rump state and Canada, along with all of Britain's colonies, a lot of which probably still haven't done anything. Especially since the German Empire won the Weltkrieg.

So, I won independence from Japan and puppeted them, which means that Japan is now in the Anti-Japanese Pact. Also, I don't think Japan was meant to become a Social Democracy, since their leader has no portrait.

Now to prepare to MORE war, since Ungern Khan and the Tsar both have focuses to get a wargoal on me.

Elsewhere, Mittelafrika has disintegrated and the USA is gone and only time will tell whether the CSA or AUS is victorious. Either way, the winner will likely wipe out the PSA.

Welp, I regained most of my possessions (the British refused to give up the Panama Canal and I didn't get Hawaii back), but...I have no idea of what I wanted to do next xD So I quit that game. Dunno what I'll be doing next. I'd either try for Syndacalism (one of the two major powers from there) or maybe do an Asian country.

Why not play the Bharatya Commune and have both?

Hm...Nah xD I may take the British Union or something.

Ugh, so Transamur has absolutely no focus-based foreign policy unless the Second Russian Civil War happens, which it usually doesn't.

So, naturally, I tagged to Russia and kicked off the event because I'm sure as hell not letting bad design keep me from getting my focuses.

Another way to do syndicalism in the east (sort of) - Play the Netherlands. There's a syndicalist revolution event. The royal family will either flee or be slaughtered - choose the former to reduce other countries taking your land for free (just the Caribbean Union stealing some worthless islands vs that plus Germany and Australasia taking huge bites out of the Dutch East Indies) and immediately release the Dutch East Indies as a puppet on the day the the revolution happens so that the royal family can't steal them.

I think that's just the rework of the AI crisis.

Though, given how non-functional it is right now, I guess an AI crisis that actually happens would be, for all intents and purposes, a new crisis.

Yeah, the AI Crisis is a joke so far. They get a single weak system with a tiny fleet and then bomb your planets and destroy things, but that's about it.

... probaly a longshot.

But I hope if we have done synthetic ascension and it happens we can JOIN it, like psionics get the shroud.

[up] I'm still waiting for an option to assimilate organic pops post-ascension. You could add an "upload" policy and non-synth pops are then uploaded over time.

I hate having no way to keep my empire 100 % synthetic if I'm not playing as a xenophobe. :/

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.

I haven't played Stellaris since its release. Have they done much to inprove on species traits and governmental types? Those were my biggest concerns with the game.

Yeah, they've changed a lot about the government and ethics and whatnot. The Biological Ascension Path thing that's shown in Utopia can also help you with your races.

[up][up] They've completely overhauled government types, you can read more here. It's far more modular and IMO far superior to how it was in that you now have a far more easier time making the government that you want.

Governments are now made of civics (two at game start plus one more from tech), ethics (if no civics change the government flavor), and authority (democratic, oligarchic, dictatorial, and imperial).

Traits are broadly similar, but it is possible to gain the ability to add negative traits and remove positive ones, as well as unlock super traits like robust (+30% habitability) and erudite (+20% all science and + leader skills).

Do note that there are still major bugs in the current patch. For instance, Governing Ethics Attraction is broken entirely, and the AI is constantly shifting ethics because of it.

Indeed. It's better to wait until the game has been patched to fix that issue.

There's also an outstanding issue where there is no penalty for not producing enough (or, indeed, any) food, save for losing out on the growth bonuses for producing a surplus.
