There's also seven civics that change your government's name: Imperial Cult, Exalted Priesthood, Philosopher King, Citizen Service, Technocracy, Warrior Culture and Corporate Dominion. If you want a "regular" government then Philosopher King is best, and arguably also Citizen Service+Democracy, which just requires you to serve in the army to earn full citizen rights. Warrior Culture will give you a pretty military-focused government (though some versions more than others) but it also gets overwritten by all other government-changing civics besides Corporate Dominion and Philosopher King.
(Guess who just spent his morning testing out the new government types.)

So, you can Fall in Eldar fashion now? Well the game does warn you...
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.@Spooky Mask: Yeah that was nuts. Can only happen in single player mode though...if it can happen in multi it's going to be nuts since it seems like the only endgame crisis that its power scaling is dependent on player's action before it comes active. At least Warped Consciousness Reckoning has maximum amount of POP it can scale to.

Give me cute or give me...something?Honestly, from reading the original event I thought it would end the universe and cause instant game over for everyone

Yeah, I thought it was a permanent thing. I didn't think you got 50 years and then BAM.
Also I need to re-do my Hive Mind civilization so they're not Repugnant. Unless you want a challenge where empires declare war on you for no reason.
There we go, changed to Sedentary. Don't think it'll really matter considering I doubt Hive Mind pops migrate.

I don't think they become an enclave, they just have one system left and they had enclave highlightened (their empire did still exist on contact list).
Anyway, seems like psionics get all cool shit in this update I mean, you can talk to prethoryn and unbidden with them. Though in case of unbidden its just learning they come from something that is near the Shroud while with prethoryn you can actually communicate with them and learn why they are attacking ._. This is cosmic horror as hell
Found the final reply to scourging them

So uh, my second post utopia playthrough(first one was cutoff rather short, though didn't play it to the end when I saw what was going to happen) this time with default humans... Well let's just say I think I screwed up so hard that I might actually lose to Machine Consciousness. That or awakened fallen empire in neighborhood.
So umm, basically, before I was aware of the bug with achievement/ironman in current version I was aiming for Machine Consiousness (for first time) to get that achievement, but I accidentally discovered a bug where I set all synthetics to full citizens and out of slavery since apparently changing setting default rights changes theirs too <_< So I thought afterwards that I lost my chances with that crisis so umm was rather careless with my defenses and amount of synths I built... Let's just say Sol(Both Earth and mars) are now under machine rule among few other of my colonies. Good thing sector ai is okay with spamming defense armies so not completely out of the game yet :'D
Real problem though is that materialist fallen empire awakened shortly before crisis triggered and they were rather angry about rejecting offer to become satellite that shortly after crisis triggered they also declared war on me. I guess couple years later there will be war in heaven with crisis at background at same time :'D So yeah, I'm screwed in real fun way, though I was so close to getting mega engineering and using final ascension perk to build mega structures..
Oh wow. All sorts of Cosmic Horror coming out for the game lately.
Also, once again my Hive Mind got attacked fairly early in the game because apparently people don't like that group. I'll try again later, I guess.
I say bring it. I already broke extragalactic and extradimensional scum, as well as the mightiest relics of empires long since dead, so someone better offer a real challenge.
Man, I really hope that's a new endgame crisis. Though if it is, I'm hoping it's more than Space Mongols this time around. Maybe they can just erase habitable planets from existence to make it hard to recover from them?
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?The Shroud already does that, basically.
But yeah, I'd like us to get more Crises in future DLC packs.
Yeah, that makes the most sense as a future crisis. Especially because I doubt Wiz would add this in for no reason, what I would give to know about their plans.
Take this with a grain of salt but I remember Wiz saying somewhere that they would want to focus on expanding and fixing (AI rebellions lol) the existing crises before they make new ones.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnYeah, that's a good idea.
So have you guys noticed how quite many of AI personalities are foil to each other?
Like, besides the obvious Federation Builders vs Hegemonic Imperialists, Ruthless Capitalist vs Peaceful Traders and Fanatical Befrienders being parody of Fanatical Purifiers, Democratic Crusaders vs Harmonious Hierarchy are directly at odds with each other ethos wise and government type wise. Also Crusaders are about "liberating" other species whether they want to while Harmonious Hierarchy's citizens are willingly supporting autocratic government so seem like perfect target for "liberating".
Beyond that I'm bit unsure. I mean, okay Migrating Flocks and Xenophobic Isolationist aren't opposites in ethos, but one is about isolation and one is about migrating everywhere so purpose wise they are. But Erudite Explorers & Spiritual Seekers & Evangelizing Zealots... Yeah I don't think they oppose each other much. Slaving Depots and Decadent Hierarchy aren't opposites either, just different flavor of same thing.
Anyhoo, I just think its pretty cool thematic thing
I want to get into CK 2, hope there's a Steam Sale soon. Any tips, guys?
Wait for a steam sale and don't buy all the DLC at once.
Also is anyone else getting a CTD on Eu 4 now? I tried starting a Japan game last night but the game keeps crashing to desktop.
Just for everyone's information, Green Man Gaming is having a big paradox sale!
Conquered my first Non-Hove Mind species pst night. As soon as my navy recovers we'll head spinward to conquer the territory of another empire that's intruded on our area. I also plan to, eventually, betray the defensive allies I have next door and vandalize them to integrate them into my own hive.
Crusader Kings 2 is on sale for 8.99 on GMG... and I have a 25$ Steam gift card. Sigh. What CK 2 DLC do you guys reccommend?
The general stuff is better because it enhances every character. I'd suggest some Reaper's Due (personal favorite), Way of Life (great mechanics and boosts here), Son's of Abraham (fun events, but not vital), Conclave, Monks and Mystics (like Way of Life lite) and Legacy of Rome (good for Greece and larger realms) first.
If you want to play certain types of characters, buy the relevant DLC (so Sword of Islam, Old Gods, Rajas of India, Horse Lords. Oh, and the Republic I guess...). Old Gods also adds another start date, but that's not essential for a new player. Charlemagne is pretty basic, but it does give yet another start.
Cosmetics are just that, cool but optional.
Sunset Invasion is good if its on sale and you have an extra 60 cents.
If you only have 25$, I'd suggest holding off for a DLC sale to maximize your purchases. You can learn the base game (this will take a lot of time) with no DLC.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Indeed. You can probably get a number of them at the Summer Sale, and after that maybe get like one every time you get paid or something. Normally they don't go above 15 or 20 dollars.
My top DLC recommendation would be Conclave, followed closely by The Old Gods and Way of Life.
As for what to stay away from, I'd call Horse Lords, The Republic, and Charlemagne (especially Charlemagne) the worst major DLC.
Is your dislike of Charlemagne because of anti-Karling feelings, or because it adds nothing? Because I enjoy starting from way back then.
As someone who started with just the base game, I can heavily recommend Old Gods. Playing as the pagans feels almost like a whole new game, and it's a blast.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?
Be fun to watch an AI suffer it, though.
Not really, but try parking a fleet above the planet to vorp the transports when the next war starts. Unless they awaken, fallen empires never get more armies (however, if you break their entire fleet, they'll get a roughly 20k stack once they're at peace to keep them from being a free lunch for the other empires, though it leaves them too weak to ever awaken), so those will be permanent losses.
Speaking of awakening, I took a planet from the xenophobe FE that's been antagonizing me for a while whilst making sure to not engage their main fleet. I want that war in heaven, dammit.
Also, I've been skipping jump drives because my empire literally cannot function without wormholes and their range and ability to ignore borders.
