Read the dossier. Marburg had a total Despair Event Horizon, which is why it was easy for Leland to acquire him.

Got the game for $1 in the Humble Bundle and wasted a lot of my study week on it.

So. Because I'm a psychopath, I just went through the game with the goal of murdering as many named characters as possible. Here's the list of individuals who will survive AP regardless of your actions, aside from Mike of course.

  • Steven Heck
  • Grigori
  • Hong Shi
  • One of Albatross or SIE (can't kill both)
  • One of Omen Deng or Scarlet Lake (can't kill both)

The first one's kind of annoying. That's definitely someone who's major enough that there should be a way to erase them if you so choose.

[up] Nah, part of his appeal is the insanity, and him being invulnerable adds to it. Also, they need *someone* as the "last ditch partner for the ending".

You can kill both Deng and Scarlet. Pick Heck as your partner for the final mission, don't side with Halbech, don't rescue Scarlet, and attempt to spare Leland. Scarlet will shoot you in the back and you'll get the option to signal Heck to take her down. You can then choose to kill Leland anyway.

If there is a sequel, I know some rather interesting ways to flesh out some of the factions.

We know that the VCI is anything but subtle. As such I think it would be appropriate for VCI soldiers to perform lesser versions of Fury and Ironwill.

As for G22, its soldiers don't show up on Awareness when they are out of the Lo S. This passive trait would help emphasize that they are the stealth faction. Also due to their tech oriented nature, there is a chance that they might throw an Overclocked grenade.

I don't want Mike Thorton in the sequel. His story is done. I'd actually prefer a female operative.

Sadly I'm not sure AP will be included in that.

Maybe we need an internet petition. Cos those work.

Though if it was revived not sure how much of the original structure would remain - potentially a Bioware style streamlining? But who knows -Sega did manage to push out Warhammer AND Alien: Isolation so who knows.

Winding up too similar to Deux Ex: Human Revolution or the latest Hitman is another risk.

Come to think of it, the only thing that truly stood out as unique for Alpha Protocol was the plot and how even the smallest details could come back to bite you in the ass (and again, Deus Ex has kinda done that too). Beyond that, everything about the game was mediocre, especially the combat system.

[up] Yeah it's a cult hit BECAUSE of how it was relegated. It had some interesting quirks.

Becoming linear with RPG features - it was already that to a point. But it had a nice theme in that the collectibles actually did something (The intel suitcases). Being similar to the new D Ex may not be a bad thing, but forced "moral" choices and simplified dialogue would be a risk.

Weirdly AP could be something episodic content COULD work for - outside of a strong core experience. Release a full campaign which lays out who / what you are. Then episodic content around different conspiracies / investigations... which could bleed into additional content.

hell you could then tie that to leaderboards influencing factions yadda yadda.

But it'd be hard to ensure it didn't go down a micro transaction route and simplification.
