I get the impression they do this a lot.
I'm predicting this'll be Chekhov's Photograph, where someone's going to see this picture and find out that Rhoda and Catalina have magic. Maybe it won't be Diane or Lucy since that'd probably be more of a main comic-tier shakeup, but someone's gonna find out. The storyline started with a deliberate This is Canon sticker when inconsequential NPs usually go in canon limbo.
(I'm just waiting for Rhoda and Catalina to finally be part of the in-group. They just keep dancing around each other.)
I’m not sure about that. The date itself was set up in the main strip way back when, and so the date is Canon, and so the storyline is Canon. This seems more like pre-date silliness that also happens to be Canon because it’s in the same storyline.
I'm saying that the photo will come back again in this storyline.
Most of the "probably canon but not that important" NP storylines do not have the canon tag, so that makes me think something important will happen and Dan wants to make it absolutely clear that this is canon.
April Fool's Schmuck Bait.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Apparently Diane and Susan both see themselves as the inferior version of the other. There's gotta be some kind of complex that describes that.
No comic for today due to hardware issues. Dan decided to buy a new computer to replace the old, failing one; if everything goes right updates will return this Friday.
Comic now delayed to Monday. The new computer is up and running, but Dan has to relearn Adobe because the version he was using didn’t transfer.
Glomp outta nowhere!
Also, Dan has done the thing he must never do, and worked ahead a few pages, so expect on time releases for a bit. Unless he looks at the pages he did ahead and throws them out at the last minute. Which is the reason he usually can't work ahead.

It’s not always magic shenanigans, Jay.
Put that leather-armor skirt on, Lucy. Lean into it.

Going deeper.
How many, indeed?
Every time we focus on Rhoda and Catalina, it's simultaneously frustrating and so captivating. We have these these two webs of secrets constantly rubbing up beside each other but never quite intersecting.
I had forgotten Rhoda could do... that. I thought her power was just Ant-Man sizeshifting.
I think I'm just going to stop trying to keep track of what anyone's abilities are and just assume they're all universal shapeshifters.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Probably for the best with a comic by Dan "Most people would chose shapeshifting as a power" Shive.
Writer, or something. And... a button? 🖲️I think that is meant to be a sort of size-shifting. Length-shifting? She can do stretch-n-shrink too. She's making her shirt bigger and her hair shorter.
Toooooooooootally fine.
Rhoda stop being rational, I need hijinks to happen.
Role reversal.
You were almost but not quite born yesterday Hope, give yourself a break.

NP Double Date 05
I'm sure there must be a sock hop somewhere nearby.
