The Code Geass sequel's legitimate English subtitle is Re;surrection.

At least, I think that's what they're saying. I'm not sure if that means we're getting some kind of English release or there's something else I'm missing...

Maybe they'll do R2 the way they had planned to before everything went to shit?

In any case, Code Geass' 3rd movie has its trailer out now.

In which a lot more stuff hits the fan...

Gotta have to rush through R2 in order to wrap this up. Wonder how it will lead into R3...

This is only the third worst blue-balling an anime has given me these past two years. FLCL and Dragonball Super have you beat, Code Geass.

The second movie covers up to the end of R2 ep 16, for which they cut a lot of early R2 content, so I think the last movie will probably be comparatively more reasonably paced.

I can only imagine R3 going something like this:

S: Lelouch! You're alive. Oh it's so great to see you-

L: Suzaku. One job. I gave you exactly one job.

S: Five months!

L: One year -waves arm even more dramatically- and the whole world's at war again! I gave you very basic instructions Suzaku! Do you know how hard it is to predict the flow of a conversation and time your responses accordingly, down to the second? I hinged the fate of the Zero Requiem on Schniezel not cutting me off mid-sentence! I did all of the hardwork, gave you the most powerful empire in the world and sublimated all of its enemies, and the only thing I asked you to do was to keep the peace!

S: You barely gave me anything! You just threw me this mask and this cape and a sword and said, "make sure to stab me so that I die quickly because I really don't want to have to bleed out for several minutes surrounded by people I've manipulated into hating me!" If you were really so gifted, why didn't you leave a set of instructions titled "what to do for the next 2 years to prevent all-out war?"

L: I gave C-2 instructions on what to do and told her to deliver them to y... oh god damn it.

I mean, I usually cut Lelouche's final plan a lot of slack because the final four episodes of R2 were so conclusive and brought the franchise to a satisfying end.

But now that it's going again and therefore all my goodwill has likewise vanished... his master plan makes no sense and is the sort of thing a villain would come up with. In fact, it is the sort of thing a villain would come up with.

Usually the villain plots to remain in power.

Lelouch never thought things would last forever, but it's hilarious that it didn't even last a year and brainwashed Schneziel failed to be useful.

But itls inevitable when Japan was fucking dumb enough to make OHGI prime minister!

The point was for it to work. I can buy Lelouche being villainous, but after this point he's a massive idiot as well.

If Schneizel is aware that he's geassed, I don't think it's out of the question for him to figure out loopholes in the "serve Zero" command (such as doing things that benefit him more than they benefit Zero but since they still benefit Zero to some extent, the geass doesn't veto them). Or alternatively, trick Jeremiah into removing it (possibly by personally attending the de-geassing of one of Lelouch's former masked mooks and deliberately standing within the effective radius) then pretend that it's still in effect so that he can covertly move against Zero without anyone suspecting him.

We don't even know what the conflict is in Re;surrection. (what an awful title)

It could be just a regional conflict for all we know.

A regional conflict doesn't warrant Lelouch coming back. If people are getting blown up this is bigger than that.

We don't know why Lelouch comes back either. It could be related to that.

"Kill the Emperor" is one of those Geass orders that would backfire horribly on account of being too vague. There's no limitation on it, which means it will be understood as "Kill every Emperor for the rest of your life."
