Moffat talks ratings, misogyny, casting, Missy and more.

Mr Moffat claims that the christmas special is a happy feelgood fun episode. I reckon it might be to make up for the end of this series being super bleak, or he's lying and it'll be a depressing episode.

Either way I'm not ready...

As much as that one scene in Name of the Doctor acted as a nice goodbye to River, I am ridiculously excited to see her meet Twelve.

You ever see two people and just immediately know they would have excellent chemistry if they interacted?

Alex/River and Peter/Twelve are like that for me. I'm hype to see them interact.

There's an Eighth Doctor audio book featuring River. Don't know it it's out already though, nor if they interact, given that River can't make herself known too soon.

Michelle Gomez was almost not the Master? Huh.

I still want to know which Series 8 role Gomez turned down. There's only limited possibilities. Ms Karaboxis and her clones in Time Heist, Lundvik from Kill the Moon, abusive mother Mrs. Pitt from Mummy on the Orient Express or Maebh's mother in In the Forest Of The Night.

Also, concerning Eight meeting River, I figured he'd just forget her after the whole time War thing.

I'm pretty sure Michelle was originally going to play Courtney Woods.

I do know they've scheduled the Christmas special for 5ish where the season's been two or three hours later.

Still really doesn't make sense to me to vary the time shows are on episode by episode. You do that in America you're trying to kill the show and probably succeeding. It's a big deal if you change the time slot more than once a run.

We have iPlayer over here, so the exact air time isn't that much of a big deal.

Yeah, that and you're able to find the full listing online easily enough. For Christmas specifically nothing broadcasts normally, people will at times get a special coy of say the Radio Times so that they know what's happening when on Christmas day.

Christmas of course. It's a special. A special is by definition not at a regular time. I'd transitioned to talking about the rest of the series.

If I ever own a mansion I'm going to have a bunch of Weeping Angel statues positioned around it.

I'd add tally's on various walls and leave notes about watching out for the Silence just to mess with people.

There's some spooky statues in the cathedral behind my house. It's on a hill so its really quiet, and there are these spot lights round the corner which puts the statues in sharp relief as they stand there in a single moment forever more or until they are permitted to move again.
