I prefer the Krotons. It has Zoe in it.
The best Trout story for me has to be War Games, but showing it is really difficult considering it's length, so show The Mind Robber instead; brilliant bit of television.
Damn I love Two/Jamie/Zoe.
It's hardly the best Troughton story, but it's the most legendary Troughton story. For decades it was fondly remembered by fans who watched it from behind the sofa as the best Second Doctor story and best Cybermen story, and it was missing so nobody had anything but the rose-tinted glasses of nostalgia to go on. Then it was found, and we got to see the mess it really is. But it's still got that reputation.
Fresh-eyed movie blogBest Troughton story is The Seeds of Death. Mostly for badass transporter-system boss lady. "I need to go on this dangerous mission." "You can't go on this dangerous mission!" *braces self for cringeworthy '60s sexism* "You're way too important! You're the only one who knows how to run this place! You die, we're all fucked!"
And that bit where the Doctor and Zoe have spent the entire rocket ride reassuring Jamie that nothing could possibly go wrong, everything's under control, and then suddenly they're like "oh god we're going to crash" and we get a close-up on Jamie with the best "are you fucking kidding me" look I've ever seen cross someone's face.
...been too long since I've seen it, really.
...I mean, The Mind Robber and The War Games are also really freaking good. The Troughton era in general sets a damn high standard.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Parts I liked of Tomb were the sets, Troughton (Of course) the villainess and her strongman. (Sure he was a stereotype, but he managed to get a lot of investment from me)
There was speculation that after... Five or Six, I'm not sure which, might be both, the show would bring back Troughton instead of hiring someone new.
The more things change, the more fandom stays the same.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI don't think people are speculating Troughton will come back. If they are...um...
...someone should break it to them gently.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. No, but "David Tennant" and "Billie Piper" were polling strongly for "Who will be cast as the 12th Doctor?"
Fresh-eyed movie blogBit recent, isn't it? If they were asking for McCoy or McGann I could kind of see it.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. They were asking for the most popular actors of the era they're familiar with.
Fresh-eyed movie blogNo one was asking for Tom Baker back, I don't think.
...well...probably, actually, yeah.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I'm pretty sure there was a subset of fandom hoping Davison would be sacked to bring back Tom.
Fresh-eyed movie blogTroughton is a powerhouse of charm and certainly would be the Doctor actor most likely to be willing to return to the role; he was probably second only to Pertwee in sheer genuine love of the show.
That reminds me; Pertwee and Troughton used to just hang out in character, makes me wish I could see them at a convention today and just step into Doctor Who.
Also on that note, It surprises me that some how some when Zoe Heriot hasn't managed to get back onto the show since The Five Doctors considering how amazingly tied into Doctor Who Wendy Padbury is; basically being the agent of half the stars of the show.

I mean, it's a bit hard to gloss over the fact that 2000 has been and gone and we're no closer to anything resembling Space Station W3 existing, to say nothing of the appalling lack of sparkly jumpsuits.
To say nothing of the fact that any return episode for her is gonna be bound up in her memory loss.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. These are all good reasons I will choose to ignore so I can fantasise about her return.
Speaking of memory loss, did Jamie ever get cured of that? Permanently, I mean. I know that he was alright again in The Two Doctors, and that he apparently had some adventures with the Sixth Doctor in Big Finish, but I'm not sure if he just got saddled with the memory loss again at some point or not.
She could cameo as a Zoe that doesn't remember the Doctor.
Fresh-eyed movie blogPerhaps somewhere is a Zoe who knows there's something wrong with our present; that there should be populations in orbit; she can remember living on one; she suspects something's been changed, but she can remember any reason why she should be able to notice a discrepancy, but no one else.
She's been a time traveler, she sees the world differently. Though she's had that part of her life removed from her memory, so she doesn't exactly understand why.
Fresh-eyed movie blogBest Troughton story is The Enemy Of The World. Which you said you'd seen.
...Even though it came out last year.
...I'd say he was a bit more genuine than Pertwee, really. He didn't have all the stock "yeti in the loo" phrases.
He died.
In Big Finish or the comics or both, probably.
The Eruditorum Guy is actually a comic-book villain. And also Alan Moore. Same thing though, really.
The Enemy Of The World didn't seem to have those either in 2018.
Neither did Dimensions In Time in 2013.
Or The Dalek Invasion Of Earth in 2150.
Time can be rewritten.

It's never revealed if Jamie died or not. You see, the Jamie that Six was travelling with Isn't real, technically. The Doctor ended up in th Land of Fiction for two stories but didn't know it. That's where he met Jamie again. Or rather, the Jamie Zoe constructed from her memories to give the Doctor a familliar face as he went through the Land of Fiction trying to figure out the situation. Long story short Zoe became the controller of the land of fiction just in time for a Cyberman invasion. It was a war between so many fictional characters and the cybers who had cyberconverted all these fictional characters in their war. It was really cool.
The Blog The ArtHey look, I found the Tenth Doctor's car.
"We're home, Chewie."So, what, are we saying the Silence made it that Zoe's future didn't happen or what?
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
I dunno, I wouldn't say it's the only good moment—"don't you think this skirt's a bit short", "well now I know you're mad", and "complete metal breakdown" are all fairly good bits.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.
