With a fight this close, Grandma's getting the opposition leader off the field may just tip the battle for Colette.

Grandma's a Sturmvorous. Her only side is her own. Zola has just been demoted from Queen of the Dawn to Pawn in the Palm.

@50129 True, but Colette will have an advantage that Agatha did and Klaus didn't - an immediate threat to their lives.

[up] Both directly from Colette (she's highly unlikely to be willing to put up with shenanigans after her father was killed by the same plot that's currently threatening her city, at the very least) and the Other.

I think your point is likely to hold here, though I think Tweedle is probably more powerful than the Castle sparks and Agatha definitely is. Agatha seems to get along well with other powerful sparks better than most, which will help too.

So... Is granny dealing a lot of good in the long run by just removing herself and the biggest pawn/possible queen in that game? Colette might not be up to putting up with a lot o crap but putting up with some dismal sparks might be taxing unless she has enough wisdom to see which ones deserve to get the plans up and running. But now that all hell is going up in Paris, with the possibility to get rid of the Awful Tower we might just see the third ringers and the geisters making a battle royale to make it harder for everyone.

Oh, I don't doubt that there will be a Battle Royal. Heck, I'm sort of looking forward to one. However, with Zola under Grandma's thumb (because it's safer there than out in the street!) I seriously doubt that the remainder of the Geisterdamen and whoeverthehell backed the plot against Voltaire are going to last more than a few painfully scorching moments. Add Tweedle's remaining forces and the Librarians and it should be bright, shiny, painful and short.

Unless there is backstabbing involved. And with 3 (count 'em) 3 members of the Sturmvorous' family in play, that's practically guaranteed.

True, but my guess is that they will let Colette clean Paris completely before returning to their normal fratricidal impulses.

Y'know, Agatha can probably command the revenants. Colette would probably blow a gasket if she learned it. And Grandma? Even the Kestle's mind boggles.

You know how I can point to the fact that things are about to get really pear-shaped? I looked at @50136, nodded sagely, then remembered that DeMarquis is technically wrong - there are four Sturmvoraus family members on hand (Tarvek, Tweedle, Granny, and Seffie). Seven if you count the known Smoke Knights on hand (granted, one of those is Violetta, who we know Agatha can trust, but hey, we're counting Tarvek and Agatha can more or less trust him, too), and who knows how many that we haven't accounted for yet.

Oh, and you wouldn't exactly have to sell me hard on the idea that Andronicus is still somehow kicking around.

Poor, poor Paris.

[up] Because seeing Mutellus with egg on his face never gets old. Andronycus was just too interesting to get Coup de Grace'd by someone like Martellus.

Though I wouldn't mind if it turned out that Andronycus' crown had some sort of downside.

[up][up][up][up][up][up] The problem with Zola being under Grandmother's thumb is that, so far as we know, Zola still has Lu knocking around upstairs, and that makes her dangerous beyond measure.

Did Tarvek just spark that outfit into existence offscreen? I wanted to see his sparky tailoring. My guess is that he altered The Master's coat on the fly, but where did he get the rest?

And there's obsidian... is he being nice right now?

Anyone else think that last pose of Colette's looks more symbolic than natural? They've thrown in tarot references before, but I don't know it well enough to know if her pose would fit a card. Also, she's been shown posing on spheres before, and she looks much closer to her audience, I wonder if it's some sort of transport device?

I love the look on Agatha's face when she spots Tarvek and his bit of vanity in not being in a fool's costume when he sees her again.

Tarvek had plenty of time to secure that outfit, since he was with Colette when she started to take damage. A replica of the Master's coat will be available from all good Paris clothiers. If there wasn't a clothing store nearby which had been damaged in the battle then there is now.

The penultimate panel shows that Tarvek was right.

[up]I suspect Grandma doesn't want Tarvek and Agatha to reconnect. At least, not yet.

I also suspect that if she tries to keep the Threesome apart for too long, Grandma may discover what being put through a shredder feels like. tongue

Well I just claimed the idea of Tarvek looking for clothes and I do like the "Paris needs pants". Gotta love Tarvek's reactions in this page, he is pouting because it seems Colette wasn't doing the job with full clothes; the whole comments of him going through the fashionista are not far off.

Also if I am not wrong the referenced card is "The World".
