Technically, it's only one decapitation...
Unless that guard was wasped (likely) *and* this can be proven (less likely), the Master is going to be very unhappy about this.
Stick the weasel in the guard's face. Of course, whether the Master would accept this as proof is another matter. Plus, if the Master/one of his agents never ordered the guy to set up the roadblock, he'd at least be guilty of acting without authorization.
On another topic, if the guard is a revenant, and the head of the wasp-conspiracy is currently unconscious down in the Library, who ordered him to attempt this?

If you want to split hairs, a drug that puts you to sleep administered against your will is poison. It's just supposed to be a non-fatal one.
But for the question of fatal versus non-fatal, I'm guessing non-fatal, but lasting for at least half a day. I think it'd be suspicious if dead bodies just start turning up among the guards, but you don't want them coming to and being able to track you quickly.
