See? That'll be what happenned with Higgs too. Once you've sorted out that kind of love schematic for yourself you can do this with authority.
Higgs did, however, miss the chance to bean Gil with an inkwell. Unless that's on the next page.
As an amateur calligrapher, I now find myself wondering what kind of crazy writing implements a Spark would come up with. And what kind of crazy inks.
I wouldn't discard they creating a way to milk the ink out of a squid.
Well here goes nothingSquid ink is the origin of sepia.
Unless you mean "mechanical squid". But that's probably just motor oil.

Suddenly, I hate to think what some would do with the idea of perfumed ink. Let alone artisanal paper. :/

Oh no, the trouble is that they'll find a way to milk the ink out of a squid. Probably involves underwater breeding pens and tickling, too.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.Invisible ink is what just-broken-out Sparks make for practice.
Then they spend the next three hours looking for where they put it.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry Pratchett
Mind control (or mood altering) ink, by way of scent, seems like something a Spark would try.
And then there's all the weird things a pen could be made to do.

The pen is mightier than the sword, and the steam-driven sword-pen is mightier than them both.
"I could build a machine that would project a simulacrum of myself that could explain-"
That is, after all, more or less what Agatha did to him.
Am I sensing a little Sparky competitiveness on his part?
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettWhat's wonderful is how meekly Gil takes it all. No ranting, no bombast, no declarations of imperial right, just a young man who just got a royal chewing out and is about to do what he's told. Don't talk back to the boatswain, sailor, it's bad for your health.

If it moves, eat it. If it doesn't move, kick it—then eat it!Was meaning from a live squid... renewable resources and all that.
For we know the sailor has plenty of ways you suffer. Bonus point if it is a SEABEE.
Well here goes nothingOr maybe a Sparky sense of romance. Sending some letter any mundane could have made? That isn't electrical or explosive or anything? Might as well just send her plastic flowers with it.
Omigosh! Friday's page is up!
Seffie! Grandmother! Parties!

Colette: Deviousness assessment falling, slyness assessment rising.
Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise.Oh, so that's what Colette meant by a message.
I am just loving all the subtleties on this page.
Huh, the look on Seffie's face when she mentions Gil...
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettI'm not sure what to make of her face — sort of a perplexed vulnerability? — but her words and the overall context do seem to suggest a genuine liking.
I find her very cute on this page, overall. Probably totally evil, but cute.
Also, my first thought when I saw grandmother was that she looked like Tarvek, but I couldn't pinpoint what feature seemed familiar — what, the jaw? The expressions? The ponytail...? After the third or fourth time reading through, I finally realized it's the pince nez. :D
Maybe that's why she supported Tarvek? The affinity of the myopic. ;)

Oooh, interesting stuff going on!
So in my mind Colette just got bumped from "Cheerful guide who's a spy for the Sturmvoraus family" to "Schemer with a mind of her own and a quick one too".
And grandma looks like yet another interesting character, though not much of a surprise there, I'm glad neither her not Seffie seem crazy and evil.
Not crazy-evil, but surely sane and evil for their own protection.
So, did Colette's message backfire?
Meanwhile, notice Grandmother with her table and cards—rather like Moxana when Agatha met her.
So... Ruling the city means that you're allowed to dictate what kind of parties people throw, even if you don't plan on attending yourself? Very interesting and impressive application of power. I'm reminded of the dialogue:
Tarvek: "There's more to being a tyrant than having cake whenever you want it."
Agatha: "If that's what you think then you're doing it wrong."
'May you live in interesting times.'- Chinese curseOn the page: Well the family resemblance of Granny and Tarvek is there, up to the glasses. We get the name of the Master of Paris, possibly Colette talked to her dad or just made it look like it (which can be fitting)due to being the daughter that spends the most time with him.
Seffie might have won the insight, after Granny did some ground work. Also a thought here: Does Granny have the flair of the I Was Quite a Looker trope? (After all we got to hear of the parties so don't know if it applies on the combo)
Well it seems that I had to go to sleep for this to come up... so if the REM monitor is working again does that mean I'll have to sleep like the chickens for the pages to go up?
Well here goes nothingSeffie's not that stupid, Collette's not that stupid, they both know the other's not that stupid, and they both know that the other knows that...
Aagh, my brain just broke.
Wheels within wheels.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettAh, the backstabbing skulduggery of two families schooled in plotting and manipulation going head to head. It had to have frustrated them to no end, Klaus showing no interest in politics and simply tipping over the table instead of moving chess pieces around. Since the Master of Paris seems to have no interest in extending his rule beyond the city boundaries, they're finally free to do what they do best. The only question is, can they out-scheme the Other? They failed once before, after all.
Ha! It'd take a few decades just to sort out all his love interests. He's got a love... Hold on, I'm going to try and graph this...
[Attempt deleted because I can only mess with the formatting so long before I remember I have a to-do list].
Uh... Dude's got a Love Starship going on.
