* AngstDissonance: Really could apply to any character in the series depending on the reader, but Tallstar is a big contender, at least as a young cat. Since his book came out later than Crookedstar's or Bluestar's, readers will probably read Tallstar's book last. Tallstar spends a lot of time being upset about the way his parents treat him, but Sandgorse is nowhere near as awful as Rainflower was to Crookedstar, and Palebird doesn't neglect him nearly as much as Bluestar's father Stormtail did her, so it's kind of hard to sympathize.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Sparrow comes off as one of these. It's obvious to anyone with a basic understanding of literature and Tallstar's character that he won't kill Sparrow, but it's still kind of dull when, after questing to find and kill Sparrow, Tallstar just gives up and forgives him at the moment of truth.
* ArcFatigue: ''Tallstar's Revenge''. You know it's about the death of Tallstar's dad Sandgorse, and Tallstar's quest for revenge, but Tallstar's dad doesn't even die until around page two hundred of this five hundred page book. This means that Tallstar spends two hundred pages growing up and having drama with his parents. This isn't uninteresting, but it still mostly not related to the book's purported plot.
* AssPull: Some people think this of Yellowfang turning out to have the ability to feel other cats' pain. No cats outside of Nutmeg and her descendants have been known to have special powers, and Yellowfang was in many many books in which she was never implied to have her power.
* CaptainObviousAesop: In ''Tallstar's Revenge''. Forgiving people is good, and cold-hearted revenge is bad. Bizzarely, they paint angry, spur-of-the-moment revenge as good when Shrewclaw tries to avenge his mother's death in the midst of a battle.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Sparrow comes off as one of these. It's obvious to anyone with a basic understanding of literature and Tallstar's character that he won't kill Sparrow, but it's still kind of dull when, after questing to find and kill Sparrow, Tallstar just gives up and forgives him at the moment of truth.
