** He calls ''Film/SavingMrBanks'' "a hacky mid-brow piece of [[AwardBait Oscar bait]]", and the worst Disney movie he ever saw -- he doesn't even give it a grade at the end of his review.

** He loves ''WesternAnimation/TheRoadToElDorado'', to the extent that he uses its 48% Website/RottenTomatoes score as a sign of RT declining in credibility.

** He loathes ''WesternAnimation/RalphBreaksTheInternet'', because of its self-congratulations, its failed attempts at topical humor, and its contradictions with ''WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph''.
--->My friends, I regret to tell you that everybody’s wrong. Rotten Tomatoes is wrong, the movie-going public that flocked to see it were wrong and the UsefulNotes/{{Academy| Award}} were wrong for nominating it for Best Animated Feature. Thankfully, at least, it didn’t win because if ''[[WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse Into the Spider-Verse]]'' had lost to this pile of crap that would have been my super-villain origin.
** While he doesn't ''hate'' ''WesternAnimation/FrozenII'', he regarded it as a severe disappointment compared to the original, mainly due to its inability to stick to a single tone and its over-complicated plot.

** ''Literature/{{Dracula}}'' purists tend to hate that ''Film/BramStokersDracula'' turned Lucy from TheIngenue who's SpoiledSweet into a HotterAndSexier flirt. Mouse however loves this version of the character and calls Sadie Frost "absolutely definitive".
--> "I honestly doubt anyone will ever play this role as well as she does."

** Mouse snarks in his review of Walt's ''WesternAnimation/{{Cinderella}}'' that Music/CarlyRaeJepsen's "Call Me Maybe" would more accurately summarize Cinderella's romance with Prince Charming than "So This is Love" does. Two years later, Jepsen would play the titular role in a Broadway production of ''Theatre/CinderellaRodgersAndHammerstein'' (although this telling has a more fleshed-out romance than Walt's did).

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Does these a lot.
** Disney himself was a MadArtist who trafficked heavily in the occult, obtaining immortality in the process. Not [[EyeBeams Heat Vision]] though, that's apparently just something that animators can do.
** {{WesternAnimation/Mulan}} is a walking avatar of Death itself.
** The rat from ''WesternAnimation/LadyAndTheTramp'' was named Larry, and was just checking on the baby out of concern for its well being. He survived his run-in with Tramp, received botched reconstructive surgery, went mad, and renamed himself [[WesternAnimation/TheGreatMouseDetective Ratigan]].
** The Blue Fairy from ''{{WesternAnimation/Pinocchio}}'' had an affair with a human, resulting in the birth of ''{{WesternAnimation/Cinderella}}''. Now older, she claimed to be Cinderella's Fairy Godmother so she could help her without revealing their connection.
** The "Princess of Glowerhaven" that [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 Prince Eric]] failed to hit it off with was the Queen from ''WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs''. This incident resulted in her becoming self-conscious about her appearance, and led to her [[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast transforming a prince into a beast]].
** The actual Brazilian state of Bahia is in reality a realm of madness and chaos, in which the devil himself (a Crimson Cockerel named [[WesternAnimation/TheThreeCaballeros Panchito Pistoles]]) can be encountered. And [[WesternAnimation/SaludosAmigos Jose Cariocca]] is a warlock in his service.
** Hera is the true evil mastermind in ''{{WesternAnimation/Hercules}}'', in keeping with her mythological counterpart.
** After marrying into royalty, Cinderella sicced the kingdom's guards on Lady Tremaine for domestic slavery and possibly the murder of Cinderella's father, causing her to go on the run. She fled to France (leaving her daughters as patsies) and lived off her fortune, becoming [[WesternAnimation/TheAristocats Lady Adelaide]] before being identified and apprehended by Lieutenant ''Series/{{Columbo}}.''
** As of ''Film/AntManAndTheWasp'', Scott Lang is part of an... "[[{{Polyamory}} open marriage]]" between his ex-wife and her current husband.
** He claims that Pepper Potts was somehow possessed by the spirit of Terrence Howard out of revenge, after his role as Rhody was taken over by Creator/DonCheadle in ''Film/IronMan2'', explaining why Pepper is more hostile to Tony than she was in the original film.
* AnimationAgeGhetto: Mouse has discussed this a few times, most prominently in the ''Anime/PrincessMononoke'' review.

* CriticalDissonance: ContinuityLockout: Even reading all the Canon reviews in order isn't ''quite'' enough to guard against this, as several of the most important pieces of the MetaPlot (and a few running gags) are established in non-Disney reviews or even seemingly run-of-the-mill status updates. The character of the Confused Newbie was created specifically to lampshade this.

He's stepped out of line with both big-name critics and the masses quite a few times on the quality of various films and characters. When his opinions start looking ''too'' radical, the Angry Mob tends to get called in. To wit:

* CriticalResearchFailure: The ''Tangled'' review argues that Snow White's prince waking her with Love's First Kiss wouldn't feel like a DeusExMachina to viewers who read the original story, despite that version of Snow White instead waking after the prince's servants dislodge a piece of the poison apple from her throat.
* DracoInLeatherPants: PlayedForLaughs with the rat from ''WesternAnimation/LadyAndTheTramp'', whom Mouse christened "Larry" and cast as the HeroOfAnotherStory. Larry's "tragic" death is occasionally referenced in later reviews.
* EvenBetterSequel:
** Regarding the Disney Animated Canon, Mouse has awarded ''WesternAnimation/Fantasia2000'', ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuersDownUnder'', and ''WesternAnimation/WinnieThePooh2011'' higher scores than their predecessors.
** Regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mouse graded every ''Film/{{Captain America|TheFirstAvenger}}'' movie higher than the one preceding it, and ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol2'' higher than ''[[Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Vol. 1]]''.[[note]]''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'' and ''[=GotG=] Vol. 2'' each even held a term as Mouse's highest-rated Marvel movie.[[/note]] His spoiler-free review of ''Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron'' also called it superior to its predecessor, but he later admitted that its flaws became more apparent on repeat viewing.
* FairForItsDay: He's come to the defense of quite a few controversial scenes and characters, like the crows from ''{{WesternAnimation/Dumbo}}''. Also while he hated ''{{WesternAnimation/Pocahontas}}'' he at least said it was good that Hollywood attempted a better depiction of Native Americans than in the past.
* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Mouse admits that Tony Stark's and Pepper Potts' romantic scenes in ''Film/TheAvengers2012'' feel hard for him to watch after ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'' revealed that a few years later, [[spoiler:Pepper would break up with Tony.]]
* HarsherInHindsight: Mouse predicted in his ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' review that ''Film/BlackWidow2021'' would [[spoiler:undo Natasha's untimely death. It doesn't.]]

* HypeBacklash: Had this reaction to finding out that ''WesternAnimation/TheRescuers'' had been voted as one of the top Disney films of all time.
* InferredHolocaust: The conclusion he draws by the end of ''WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast''. There is no way ''every'' servant/piece of furniture in Beast's castle survived.
* ItsTheSameSoItSucks: An in-universe example being Mouse's primary issue with ''Film/DoctorStrange2016''; he feels the same story beats and character arcs were done in a more appealing fashion [[Film/IronMan1 eight years prior]].
* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: Mouse argues that ComicBook/TheWasp's HeroicSacrifice in ''Film/AntMan1'' doesn't get count as getting StuffedIntoTheFridge, since it doesn't sound plausible for Marvel to ''permanently'' kill off the more interesting member of Ant-Man's and Wasp's duo. [[spoiler:He even shares a picture of a woman's silhouette appearing in the Quantum Realm.]]
* MemeticBadass: He turns Mulan into one, frequently assigning her quotes from famous movie {{Action Girl}}s like the Bride from ''Film/KillBill''.
* MemeticMutation: Alice face palming in the courtroom scene of ''WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland'' is often used whenever something racist or offensive shows up in a Disney movie.
* NightmareFuel: Lampshaded whenever Mouse accompanies a scary picture with this caption:
-->''Ah, there's that good old timey Disney terror.''
* NightmareRetardant: Mouse comments that the wolves from ''WesternAnimation/{{Frozen|2013}}'' look more cuddly than scary, because of their "soft, perfectly rendered fur".
* RonTheDeathEater:
** In order to fit ''{{WesternAnimation/Hercules}}'' into Myth/ClassicalMythology better, Mouse theorized that Hera was actually behind everything to go wrong in the movie.
** Also noticed that in ''Iron Man 2'', Rhodes (who had his actor replaced) had become lot more likable, and Pepper had become much less so. He decides that the soul of Rhodey 1 was possessing Pepper, to destroy his replacement and become the One True Rhodey.
* RootingForTheEmpire: PlayedForLaughs when he reviewed ''WesternAnimation/TheAristocats''; Mouse initially sympathizes with Edgar more, but flip-flops between [[{{Literature/Twilight}} "Team Fleabags" and "Team Edgar"]] several times before writing the entire movie off and founding "Team End the Damn Movie Already".
* SacredCow: Mouse's review of ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1992'' episode "Wish Upon a Starfish" starts out mocking its nonsensical jokes and plot elements, and comparing it unfavorably to [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 the original movie]]. When Gabriella shows up, Mouse finds the story of her creation so heartfelt and tragic[[note]]Disney based her on a deaf ''Little Mermaid'' fan who died of leukemia at a very young age[[/note]], that he decides not to riff the rest of the episode.
-->Is it a good episode of television? No, it’s a beautiful act of kindness and solidarity for a family going through the worst grief imaginable. Questions of artistic merit are pretty much moot.
* SubbingVersusDubbing: Mouse holds that live-action films should always be watched in their original language, but will be more flexible with animation (since both sets of actors are just speaking in a recording booth).
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel:
** While Mouse doesn't really seem to like either ''Franchise/{{Cars}}'' movie, he does give ''WesternAnimation/Cars2'' a slightly higher score than ''WesternAnimation/{{Cars}}'', due to boasting [[Creator/LarryTheCableGuy a livelier lead actor]] and a more exciting script.
** Mouse praises ''Film/IronMan3'' and ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar'' so much higher than he did ''[[Film/IronMan2 IM2]]'' and ''Film/AvengersAgeOfUltron'', that he calls them his favorite ''Film/IronMan'' and ''[[Franchise/TheAvengers Avengers]]'' movies, respectively (until ''Film/AvengersEndgame'' earned the same score as ''Infinity War'').
** Mouse calls ''WesternAnimation/PocahontasIIJourneyToANewWorld'' a slight improvement over ''WesternAnimation/{{Pocahontas}}'', with an intriguing concept, and a more human portrayal of Pocahontas -- though he warns that fans of the first movie would probably hate ''Journey To a New World'', and consequently gives the latter a lower score, since he's grading it based on its merits as a sequel.
** Mouse finds ''Film/ThorRagnarok'' to improve so drastically on ''Film/ThorTheDarkWorld'', that he grades ''Ragnarok'' higher than ''every'' movie Marvel Studios released before it.
* UnfortunateImplications: One of the biggest criticisms he has with the ''Ant-Man'' movies, especially [[https://unshavedmouse.com/2017/06/01/i-ruined-the-moment-didnt-i/ the first one]], is that the only non-Caucasian members of the cast are outlandish comic relief who exist mainly to be put in their place by the white main characters.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Mouse calls Mushu the villain of ''WesternAnimation/MulanII'', but admits doubting that the writers meant to turn him evil.
* ValuesDissonance: Disney's particularly ''problematic'' characters will usually be introduced thus:
-->'''''[[{{WesternAnimation/Dumbo}} Crows]]:''' [[JiveTurkey Aw, Disney’s never gonna be embarrassed by us no way no how!]]''
-->'''''[[WesternAnimation/PeterPan Injun Chief]]:''' [[TontoTalk Ug. Disney not be embarrassed by me ever.]]''
-->'''''[[WesternAnimation/LadyAndTheTramp Si and Am]]:''' [[AsianSpeekeeEngrish Ah so. Honorable Disney-san not being embarrassed by us ever.]]''
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotPolitical: Employed in the ''Cinderella'' review, among others.
