* AccidentalInnuendo: Two from Smithy in the same scene:
--> '''Smithy:''' Hey, Todd, I can feel a big tug!
--> '''And:'''
--> '''Smithy:''' Hey, Todd, aren't you getting tired of ''[[ADateWithRosiePalms tugging along?]]''
* AlternateAesopInterpretation: Just because something is personally important to you [[OpinionMyopia doesn't mean someone else is going to know, understand, or care about why]].
* {{Anvilicious}}: The AwardBait song "Through a Child's Eyes".
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Similarly to ''WesternAnimation/DorbeesMakingDecisions'', the soundtrack is one of the film's only saving graces. In particular, "Through a Child's Eyes" is a very beautiful song, even if it's also {{Anvilicious}}.
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Ms. Parmington is either a {{Jerkass}}, or the OnlySaneMan driven to the brink by her students.
** Smithy. Either you hate him for his sexist comments, or like him for his [[CargoShip weird comfort sandwich habit]].
* BetterThanCanon: Website/YouTube user The Slinky Kid managed to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQTl26zmr5Y make a vastly improved version of the special]]. It's only in animatic form, but it succeeds in both looking better and trimming down a lot of the padding to give the special a more streamlined plot. Not to mention it makes Nicole's botched CharacterDevelopment look considerably more believable.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** At one point, Zeke harasses a girl and when she complains, Ms. Parmington says he's doing it because he likes her. The girl is never seen again and Zeke never does anything like that again.
** Shortly after, the principal enters the classroom, says a few lines, and leaves the film as quickly as he came.
** After leaving the junkyard and heading to Ricky's house, the guard dogs show up again out of nowhere to chase Nicole, Lenee and Smithy, only to quickly give up.
* BileFascination: A lot of people out there want to watch the movie just to see how bad it is.
* CargoShip: Smithy and his sandwich.
* ClicheStorm: You've seen a lot of the character types and story elements in other cartoons before.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** While she is a minor character, Great Grandma is a favorite character of many viewers, since her [[TheUnintelligible garbled speech]] is pretty funny and seems to come right out of nowhere. She’s certainly one of the most famous and memorable things about this movie. Even stranger, she actually says something coherent at the end of the movie: “Do you know what, Nicole? I never stopped believing in Santa. And you don’t have to stop, either.” Shortly after this is more gibberish followed by "... CHRISTMAS!" She’s pretty darn enjoyable to watch. On top of that, [[IntelligibleUnintelligible Ricky seems to understand her perfectly fine]]--note that the above-mentioned coherent line is the only thing she says in the entire movie ''not'' addressed to Ricky, making it seem like she just speaks like that to him on purpose.
** Lenee is also more widely liked by virtue of being one of the few, if not the only, completely likable kid characters. Her {{Moe}} personality and gentle nature probably help. As does the fact she [[Creator/JodiBenson shares her actress]] with [[WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1989 Ariel]].
* FridgeLogic: Despite saying she absolutely hates Ricky's bear, instead of shoving it back or throwing it away immediately, Nicole ''keeps'' the gift for no reason.
* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: This quote from Nicole's father: "Nothing's too good for my princess. And I've got the credit card bills to prove it..."
** During recess, Smithy and Nicole build snowmen and then see that Lenee has made an elaborate snow sculpture of Santa and a reindeer.
* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: Despite the horrible quality of the special, there is one genuine moment in there; after Nicole's change of heart and she retrieves Ricky's bear, she takes it to give it back to him. He gently turns her down, reminding her that he gave it to her as a gift. It's [[MoodKiller ruined immediately]] by a random {{beat}}, but it's actually kind of sweet while it lasts.
-->'''Ricky:''' Nicole, I gave that bear to you.\\
'''Nicole:''' But doesn't it mean a lot to you?\\
'''Ricky:''' Yes, but so does...friendship.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** Half of Ricky's grandma's dialogue is gibberish; [[WebAnimation/{{Eddsworld}} had it not been for the other half being English, she would have been speaking "ingoobelyblench"]].
** Peabo Bryson sung the credits version for the title theme of ''[[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast Disney's Beauty and the Beast]]'' with Music/CelineDion; here, he sings another AwardBaitSong with [=BatB=]'s (and this film's) lead actress Paige O'Hara at the end of this film's credits. Double hilarious considering the {{midquel}} to the latter film [[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeastTheEnchantedChristmas was centered on Christmas]] and even had Bryson return to sing its own credits song, this time with Roberta Flack instead of Celine Dion (a cover of "As Long as There's Christmas").
* MemeticMutation:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpVc3EO-6gA ZidcgniwngermgspaxmpoweCHRISTMAS!]][[note]]For whatever reason, Ricky's great grandma sounds like she's having a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC2nC6NPYp4 heavy burtation]] almost every time she opens her mouth.[[/note]]
*** "Oh jdodisbdocunrxofwncosqkfduskdoxixjsmekaoalsdofusduskhdoxieeidi kids nowadays."
** '''NATIONAL TELEVISION''' [[note]]Referring to the fact that the special was somehow aired on a ''national TV network'', even if only once.[[/note]]
** [[https://youtu.be/4e-wuyjgDPQ?t=38m32s "Shut that door!"]] [[note]]This is the final line of the movie. No joke.[[/note]]
* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: Smithy's ReasonYouSuckSpeech to Nicole.
-->'''Smithy:''' Hey, brat! Who do you think you are, treating people the way you do? It's really gross that Ricky likes you, but he's my friend and you're not!
* {{Narm}}: The way Ricky's grandma speaks, if it was meant to be heartwarming.
-->'''Grandma''': Ergniwgnwpiornfiworengoiemqdiomoqdemqedoiqflanoit?
-->'''Ricky''': Isn't that what Santa does? It was from my heart.
-->'''Grandma''': Oh, tskhmmtskhmmtsktsktsk, seeirfffloangiginerginonaigondaniofaisdwaaayian.
-->'''Ricky''': She doesn't get it.
-->'''Grandma''': Oh, [=zxiovncioadnsocwefCHRISTMAS=], aww-ho-ho.
* {{Padding}}: The scene where Nicole, Lenee and Smithy search the school basement for Ricky's bear only serves to slow the plot down.
* TheScrappy: Nicole is probably one of the only genuinely hated characters due to being a total {{Jerkass}}.
* SoBadItsGood: It's practically ''Film/TheRoom'' of Christmas specials, along with ''WesternAnimation/TheChristmasTree'' and ''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial''.
* SpecialEffectFailure: The movie is ''entirely'' composed of .jpg images, generic fonts (including, of course, Comic Sans, which actually was the font they used on the opening credits), and CGI so crappy that it looks like it was ripped straight out of an amateur UsefulNotes/{{Steam}} indie game created in less than a month by one guy using only Microsoft programs from the early 2000s. It is so bad that it makes ''WesternAnimation/{{Foodfight}}'' look passable.
* StrawmanHasAPoint: Smithy is a sexist jerk, but he isn't wrong when he chastises Ricky for having a crush on Nicole, an entitled brat.
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: While this movie is infamously awful, the voice actors actually gave decent performances.
* UncannyValley: [[UpToEleven Taken to the next level]].
** You'll notice that the characters' eyes are always stuck facing completely straight ahead, rarely ever do they ever actually look at who they're talking to.
** Characters in the background never blink, and almost never move ''period''.
* UnfortunateCharacterDesign: Ricky literally looks like a pile of crap when seen from above.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic:
** Nicole is a spoiled rich girl who brags about how much better her toys are than everyone else's, rudely rejects Ricky's gift, goes the extra mile by throwing it away rather than just returning it, and sings a song about how she's superior to every other kid in the world. Therefore, it's very hard to like her. Sure, she [[TookALevelInKindness gets better]], but it is too little, too late.
** Ricky. Sad story aside, his decision to give away his late mother's keepsake to a girl who he has a crush on, who has said she wasn't interested, makes him come off a bit entitled.
* WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs: Due to the ''awful'' animation and the fact that they roped in A-list celebrities listed below, it's safe to guess that at least most of the cast and crew were on... ''quite a lot'' of different drugs. [[UpToEleven At the same time.]]
* WTHCastingAgency:
** Mark Hamill, Paige O'Hara, Jodi Benson, Nancy Cartwright, and ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers''' Walter Jones all appear in roles. How they managed to wind up here, only they know. Who knew a special this bad would feature such an all-star cast? Either that or they [[MoneyDearBoy all really needed some green]].
-->'''WebVideo/{{Bobsheaux}}''': I'm beginning to see where most of the budget went.
** Oddly enough, the voice acting is about the ''only'' thing anyone is willing to praise about the thing--seems having all these celebrities in the cast managed to pay off.
** WebVideo/{{RebelTaxi}} suspects that Colin Slater's apparent Scientology connections may have come into play, since Cartwright is a Scientologist. He speculates that Slater got Cartwright involved as an actor and producer through Scientology, and she in turn used her connections to get the rest of the AllStarCast.
* TheWoobie: Ricky. His mom's dead, seeing as he lives with his (probably senile) grandmother and his dad is nowhere to be seen. (who's also implied to be dead) He's selfless enough to give away his TragicKeepsake to his crush, only for her to yell at him and call said keepsake a "nasty thing". Things turn out fine for him in the end, though.
