While the Gems' decision [[JustifiedTrope was understandable]], and he still learned something by the end, not allowing him to come effectively squandered a golden opportunity for Ronaldo to see what the Gems do first hand, gain deeper respect for them, and allow for positive CharacterDevelopment for him. It also could have allowed the episode to incorporate action while also giving the show an equally viable means of showcasing the Gem that was hyped in marketing but turned out to be Ronaldo's Gemsona.
