  • If your significant other does intend to break up with you, the most responsible thing you can do is recognize you want them to be happy. Even though Sugar Belle was never going to break up with him, Big Mac's apology and allowing her to break-up on her own terms proves he's a good stallion at heart.
  • Regarding Discord and Spike's bet, if you're gonna make a wager, make sure you understand all of the terms first—Spike didn't ask how he would be expected to mow Discord's lawn if he lost until after they shook hands.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Skellinore◊ (the undead mare in Discord's Ogres & Oubliettes simulation), for her Cute Monster Girl design and her hilarious reactions despite not even speaking.
• Ho Yay:
  • Sweetie Belle happily says "I've been sitting here feeling sorry for myself for not having a special pony on Hearts and Hooves Day. But remembering all the fun we had, I think I have two special ponies – my two best friends!" Considering the threesome shipping for them has been present all along, this practically teases it as canon by having Sweetie Belle compare her friendship to the two with a romantic relationship with a colt.
  • While the majority are opposite-sex, a few pairs of background ponies seen celebrating Hearts and Hooves Day together are same-sex pairs. Fans wasted no time adding them to potential ships, including one scene that had Goldengrape with Coco Crusoe, and Roseluck with Lily.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: If Sugar Belle had intended to break up with Big Mac for whatever reason, it would've been a good chance to explore an important lesson: Some relationships will go back to being friendships, but that doesn't mean "friend-zoned" has to be a derogatory term. It just means what it sounds like, both parties mutually going back to a point where they were comfortable.
