* HilariousInHindsight:
** Back in "The Magic Duel," Twilight pretended to use a duplication spell on Rainbow Dash. Through a combination of spells, Starlight is able to achieve much the same effect for real in this episode.
** The song from ''Series/LazyTown'' referenced by Pinkie was previously used to accompany Pinkie's cooking in ''WebVideo/PoniesTheAnthology''.
** Pinkie's frantic pace in the baking scene is similar to "Epic Cupcake Time" and "Epic Pie Time."
** The shot of an oven with a cake burning in it is similar to one in the ''WebVideo/MyLittlePonyCamaraderieIsSupernatural'' episode "Call of the Creepy", where Pinkie Pie accidentally calls forth an EldritchAbomination in the oven.
** Someone predicted back in January 11, 2016, that Fluttershy [[http://equestria-prevails.deviantart.com/art/Cuddly-Crawlies-583751122 can communicate with the insect kingdom]].

Not sure if mind control to make things go accordingly counts as a Moral Event Horizon action.

** The idea of Starlight using mind control magic on the Mane 5. Some people feel that they can understand her doing this due to her problems with making friends with others and are willing to let it go for the [[HilarityEnsues fun stuff that results]] and the fact that Starlight isn't being malicious about it, and they like that the others were actually openly angry with her and she had to WORK to get them to forgive her. To others THIS isn't considered funny especially given her villainous past and the long duration of the spell; along with that, even after Twilight undid the magic spell, Starlight doesn't see anything wrong with what she did until Twilight told her otherwise and how she's EasilyForgiven for this after she apologizes for it only [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic adds more hate fuel]] to somepony who was a BaseBreakingCharacter even before this episode aired. [[TakeAThirdOption A third camp]] likes it for showing a bit of Starlight's pre-HeelFaceTurn personality, which they felt was lacking, and showing she didn't do a complete 180 and has parts of her old self she still needs to overcome.

** Starlight being shown to be ''very'' good at complex magic at the beginning and during the episode was treated by some people as, first, a good setup for her knowing how to combine several spells to achieve the effects of MindControl later on and, second, a good way to show her confidence/reliance on her magic to solve her problems in contrast to her poor social skills. For others, however, Starlight continuing to be able to pull increasingly more powerful spells that were previously considered impossible to do normally [[note]]such as the duplication spell from "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E5MagicDuel The Magic Duel]]"[[/note]], which are otherwise considered very powerful for the setting or which mimic other ponies (even in-universe fictional superheroes') special talents is making these ponies' abilities and uniqueness seem redundant [[note]]such as doing things cartoonishly fast being a typical Pinkie thing[[/note]] while making her own arsenal of abilities seem [[SpecialSnowflakeSyndrome even more special]] and [[StoryBreakerPower absurdly powerful]] [[NewPowersAsThePlotDemands for seemingly no particular reason]] and that [[NoSocialSkills social anxiety]] isn't big enough of a character flaw to balance it all out.

* TaintedByThePreview: Before the episode even aired, the idea of Starlight using MindControl magic on the Mane 5 caused quite a few fans to worry that she would undo her RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap status as of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E1TheCrystallingPart1 The Crystalling]]" and go back to being UnintentionallyUnsympathetic like in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E26TheCutieRemarkPart2 The Cutie Re-Mark]]." There were also fears that this episode, like many others in Season 6, would be [[ItsTheSameSoItSucks yet another re-hash of a previous episode]], this one being "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E3LessonZero Lesson Zero]]".
