** Regardless of the platform, the both games are absolutely unbelievable to look at. The fact the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 and UsefulNotes/{{Xbox 360}} can still run this game at a playable frame rate, on ''9 and 10 year old hardware'', respectively, is an amazing feat in optimization.

* MemeticBadass: Thanks to the ending [[spoiler: canonically, the real Big Boss was beaten by an improvised flamethrower by Solid Snake, while his Phantom, Venom Snake's boss fight is most easily won by pumping him full of missiles. Because of this, some like to claim, jokingly or not, that Venom is ''way'' stronger than Big Boss and BB, by extension, is a ''major'' MemeticLoser.]][[spoiler: But given also that, Big Boss lived through all that shit, [[ForWantOfANail and could have recovered]], hadn't Zero got his hand on him.]]

** The [[http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/18q13ubs6itzcjpg/original.jpg New Coke]] theory. Hideo Kojima cast Sutherland as Snake. After a series of rather teasing tweets,[[note]][[GutturalGrowler "I just hope I don't lose my voice"; "I think I feel laryngitis coming on..."]][[/note]] Snake's previous voice actor Creator/DavidHayter compares Sutherland to New Coke via Twitter. There has been a long-standing [[UrbanLegends theory]] that the 1985 New Coke was a ruse to spur sales of Coke Classic.[[note]]Officially denied by the Coca-Cola Company but acknowledged as a worthy strategy if they had ever been clever or risky enough to think it up in the first place.[[/note]] Therefore, Sutherland is New Coke, Hayter is Coke Classic, Kojima is using this to create buzz for the game and all three are in cahoots. On that note, Sutherland also said that there was a plot-related reason for the voice change, and that there would be [[http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=12572 "a secret that is actually really cool"]] in regards to the character. Cue renewed speculation on how David Hayter could potentially be making a cameo in ''The Phantom Pain''. [[spoiler: He doesn't. Moved from Metal Gear Solid V Trivia page.

Added DiffLines:

* IKnewIt:
** Many fans and sources speculated that ''The Phantom Pain'' was actually a ''VideoGame/MetalGear'' game well before it was announced as such, thanks to the clues left in the original trailer.
** A number of fans had figured out that the {{creepy child}} with a gas mask was actually a young Psycho Mantis, or that he was at least involved with the mysterious organization of "Those Who Don't Exist". This was given further credence by ''Game Informer'' about a month before the release of ''Ground Zeroes''.
** From his reveal, there were much speculation being thrown around about Eli being [[spoiler:a young [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Liquid Snake]]]], and with very little talk on the matter, only strengthened the suspicions. [[spoiler:So, when it turns out that he actually ''is'' Liquid, no one was surprised.]]
** Regarding a huge plot twist revealed at the end of the game: [[spoiler:several people guessed that "Venom Snake" was a clone of Big Boss. While this isn't entirely true, he is a separate individual. Rather than being a complete clone, he made in to a body double with MagicPlasticSurgery and hypnotherapy]].

Fan Preferred Couple requires a canon couple to stand in opposition to.

* FanPreferredCouple: Fans have been pretty accepting of the chemistry between Venom Snake and Quiet, in combat and out of combat.
