* OneSceneWonder: Shine Woman. Despite the fact that she only shows up in Fuse Man's segment of the revised ending, she promptly earned a number of fans due to her memorable character design, being the only original female Robot Master in the game, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking hitting on Fuse Man for his manly arms]], with some even hoping that she could be given her own boss fight if or when the game gets updated again. It helps that the game's official character illustrator [=KarakatoDzo=] [[https://www.deviantart.com/karakatodzo/art/Shine-Woman-Mega-Man-Rock-Force-995011214 gave her an illustration]], since he liked her design.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: More exposition was added to the plot to make it easier to sympathize with the robots, and the ending was revised after complaints about how needlessly dark and sudden it was.
** It {{Retcon}}s that it was the bosses of those Robot Masters ''specifically'' treating them unfairly instead of humanity at large.
** Crypt Man, in the intro, makes it clear that while his comrades got triggerhappy in their takeovers, they legitimately wanted to avoid needlessly harming people. The Robots' revolt is also more fleshed out, being a direct result of ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'''s expiration date law.
** The Robot Masters aren't killed, which solves a glaring continuity error, and better explains why [[spoiler:Justice Man]] can't come back (his Integrated Circuit became too damaged to fix).
** The ending's tone is much more hopeful. [[spoiler:It shows that the Robot Masters finally being far more fairly treated by their human bosses, and getting to choose their jobs now afterwards. The 'Mandated Expiration Date' for robots is also abolished too, which Justice Man was originally fighting to abolish.]]
** While decent, [=GoldwaterDLS=]' original songs are [[ToughActToFollow considered not quite as good as Kevvviiinnn's free songs used for the game]], and some are too similar to each other. The whole soundtrack later got remixed by a new wave of chiptune artists, so that the songs all mesh with each other better, and [=GoldwaterDLS=] plans to use this revised soundtrack in the final update.
** [=GoldwaterDLS=] has considered splitting the final level into two separate ones, to reduce its [[MarathonLevel length]].
** The final update is planned to have an additional third base for the battle with [[spoiler:Justice Man]], which [=GoldwaterDLS=] was [[TeasingCreator rather coy about and wanted to keep a total surprise]].

* EpilepticTrees: [=GoldwaterDLS=] invoked [[IntendedAudienceReaction this kind of reaction]] in regards to the Splash Woman statues.

* {{Narm}}: The game's overly serious tone and [[OffModel presentation]] in the early versions did not gel well, to put it kindly.
** The original ending's melodramatic {{Wangst}} is narmy enough, but it became hilarious when the jarringly unfitting credits music kicked in. As LetsPlay/RoahmMythril said in his blind run, "An overly dramatic scene ruined only by kind of goofy-sounding lullaby music?" Interestingly enough, the revised ending still keeps this song, but its somewhat sad yet ultimately optimistic and satisfying presentation actually helps make it a far more thematically appropriate song to transition into.

* ScrappyWeapon: Mostly averted. All the Robot Master weapons have their uses one way or another. Four of them are listed under GameBreaker above, Photon Flare works well as a screen-clearing move, and the other three are {{Utility Weapon}}s. With that being said though, while it's an excellent utility the Charade Clone is a bit problematic in terms of being an actual weapon. It's not ''terrible'' against normal enemies, but other weapons like the Phantom Fuse can do its job of blowing up the enemy quicker and better without the caveat of being wasted if another enemy/projectile destroys the clone before it can attack the enemy. This is a huge problem when fighting [[spoiler:Virus Man]] and [[spoiler:Death Man]], the bosses that are weak to it since they're easily capable of nullifying it with the projectiles they launch around their stage.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: The Robot Masters in earlier versions attacked people, and there was little explanation for why, but the player was expected to sympathize with them [[spoiler:after they were killed]]. Later updates [[AuthorsSavingThrow rectified]] this, by making it clear that they were revolting due to the expiration date law, and Crypt Man admitting that he was trying to make sure nobody got hurt in the process of their takeovers, making them much easier to feel sympathy for.

** After defeating the first 8 Robot Masters, the members of the Rock Force will show up in later levels to help Mega Man out, usually by providing Mega Man with healing items or by clearing a path for him. Elec Man's cameo in Terror Man's stage, however, has him running away from the speeding remains of [[VideoGame/MegaMan4 Wily Machine 4]] in sheer terror, then hiding in a nearby nook while quaking like a leaf and cowering every time [[WesternAnimation/MegaMan the Skullker]] passes overhead. It almost makes you want to give him a hug.

Misuse. Does not mention audience avoiding work. Complaining.

* EndingAversion: What is largely considered to be the game's main flaw in the earlier versions. [[spoiler:[[SuddenDownerEnding The ending is extremely and gratuitously bleak]], with Mega Man killing Justice Man and becoming depressed that he "silenced" the voices Justice Man and the Robot Masters he was working with, and apparently coming to believe that HumansAreBastards for making him kill his allegedly innocent brother. Although, in terms of goals, Justice Man and the Robot Masters were a WellIntentionedExtremist group, their methods were far more violent and destructive than necessary, which Mega Man hand-waves in the ending by claiming that they wouldn't have harmed anybody. Worst of all, Dr. Light doesn't disagree with Mega Man that Justice Man was right, or even offer any kind of counterpoint, leaving the player to take home that the ''Mega Man'' universe isn't any better and the main characters are probably worse off than when they started.]] LetsPlay/RoahmMythril in his blind run summary comments about how not only is it unnecessarily depressing, but lists several examples about [[http://youtu.be/LsDkxCMYm_c?t=9m40s how some of their complaints go against canon]]. Later versions of the game eventually addressed this major complaint. However, the fact still stands that [[spoiler:the parts dealing with Justice Man]] still feel like unnecessary {{Angst}} that would be better suited for the ''VideoGame/MegaManX'' series.

*** While it's true that the four Pulse Stoppers take up a lot of space, there 'is' a decently reliable way to avoid them. If Pulse Man launches them from the center of the room, stay in one of the bottom corners. If he fires it from one of the corners, get to the center of the room. Do it right and all four shots (including ricochets) will miss.
