* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: Most of the characters in the series are already hard to sympathize with (being either criminals, monsters, assholes, or hypocrites), but a big problem with the later seasons in particular and perhaps a major contributing factor leading to the show's cancellation is the increasing hopelessness for everyone involved, as major characters keep getting killed off in brutal ways, and daily life for the rest of them gets progressively crappier with trauma and angst piled on top of more trauma and angst, almost to DeusAngstMachina levels.

** Perhaps that's exactly why they did it. Most, if not all, of the characters killed off at that point were only there to be killed off, you never got an emotional bond with them or knew them at all. Whether you liked [[spoiler:Chausseur]] or not their death was a slap to the face, no one saw it coming, but considering Pryce's surprising statement we might see them again.
** From the same episode where [[spoiler:Chausseur]] is first put in jeopardy there's [[spoiler:The Sworn Twins]] to a lesser extent. Their more of MauveShirt characters but had been getting some good development, and [[spoiler:One of them dying but the other getting away could have still pushed Sheriff Sworn into KnightTemplar territory while giving the survivor an AngstySurvivingTwin arc and an interesting potential reaction to finding out their friend Christina was behind it.]]

** Peter and Roman might be the leads but Shelley, Lynda and Destiny have their own strong fanbases.
** Alexa and Alyssa Sworn are fairly well-liked for providing some decent comic relief and undergoing more CharacterDevelopment than most of the tertiary characters.
** Michael Chausseur has his fans for his arc in season two and being an ultimately reasonable HunterOfMonsters.

* MoralEventHorizon: Olivia is a terrible person, no doubt. She'll screw over anyone for her own gain, including her own children. But several episodes in season 2 seem to give her a more sympathetic side. Roman doesn't buy it, but it's vague whether Olivia is being manipulative or if she's trying to change for the better. However, the event that puts her past the point of no return, that cements forever more what kind of character she is is when [[spoiler: she devours the artificial body that Shelley was having her mind transferred into, dooming her to her deformed body forever.]]

* JerkassWoobie: Roman is not a good person, not just snobbish and narcissistic but even raped one of his classmates before making her forget the whole event and by the end of the series starts murdering people to feed his blood addiction. His bizarre, abusive upbringing and his conniving mother Olivia's influence goes a long way towards explaining how screwed up he is, with Roman constantly seen wallowing in self-hatred. When he becomes friends with Peter, who later seems to betray him by packing up and moving out of town without warning, Roman seems to be genuinely hurt by it.

Could be seen as this? That's uhh... still a massive bodily violation there. Forcing her to forget doesn't change that.
