** Furthermore, the reason that the group came to Hurricane again was because it was the anniversary of their friend Michael Brooks murder, and his parents had made a scholarship in honor of him on that day. Carlton, Michaels best friend, delivers a speech about Michael. The whole tone of the affair, how each character describes how they feel about it, and about Michael himself, really just hammers in how ''terrible'' the murders were, and how much of a ''monster'' [[spoiler:Dave/The Purple Guy]] really is. [[spoiler:The fact Michael is the child who possessed Golden Freddy/Fredbear doesn't help]].

** In this book's continuity, Charlotte's dad made the spring lock suits. Early on, he openly tells his kids how dangerous they are (enough that slight twitches can cause them to break)... yet he (as well as [[spoiler:Dave/William]]) continued to use them regardless of their dangerous use. At least Fazbear Entertainment had the excuse of being a subsidiary of IncompetenceInc run by {{Corrupt Corporate Executive}}s, and not a GadgeteerGenius who should honestly know better. ** In a somewhat more murky example of this trope, [[PoliceAreUseless the police in Hurricane]]. They had correctly suspected [[spoiler: William Afton/Dave Miller]] of the murders. He had been present at Freddy's each day of the murders, had mysteriously disappeared at the time of each murder, and when the police went through his house, they found the Spring Bonnie suit and some of [[spoiler: William's diaries which showed how obsessed and jealous he was of his partner Henry]]. -->“I don’t remember as much about Michael as I should,” he(Carlton)said finally. “Too much of those years is a blur; I know we met when we were still in diapers, but I don’t remember that, thankfully.” There was a soft titter through the crowd. “I do know that as far back as I have memories, Michael is in them. I remember playing superheroes; drawing, which he was much better at than me; and as we got older I remember … well, playing superheroes and drawing. What I really remember, though, is that my days were always more exciting when he was in them. He was smarter than me; he was the one always coming up with new ideas, new ways to get in trouble. Sorry about those lamps, by the way, Mrs. Brooks. If I had jumped the way Michael said, I probably would only have broken one.”

Unable to deal with the stress in his life, he turned to the life of a SerialKiller serial killer to relieve it. Starting off by murdering the child of his business partner Henry, Afton later lured five kids backstage, killed them, and stuffed their bodies inside the animatronics, causing them to become possessed by their spirits. He then modifies the animatronics to lure children away from their parents in the hope of being able to kill even more children. While working as a security guard at a mall, he notices an android based off Henry's daughter Charlotte along with her six friends, and decides to try and kill them ForTheEvulz. He kidnaps Charlotte's friend Carlton and places him in a springlock suit, gleefully telling him that if he makes one wrong move, the suit will slowly crush him to death and his spirit will be unable to pass on. He later kills an officer and takes Charlotte hostage when the group tries to escape. Returning as Springtrap, Afton sends out animatronics to kill Charlotte and her friends out of revenge for causing his death. It's also revealed that he reduced the animatronics to their endoskeletons and mashed them together, keeping all of the souls in excruciating agony]].

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The story seemed to be building to a reveal that the silver-eyed endoskeleton that looked like it was twitching and writhing in pain before the missing children incidents - the very same endoskeleton that ended up as Foxy - was possessed by the spirit of the first murdered child, [[spoiler:Sammy.]] Ultimately, the significance of that particular endoskeleton went nowhere.
