* ScrappyMechanic: Oh god, ''counter equipment'' in Volume 3. For you, it can help stun enemies out of their combos on you if they happen to trigger its particular element. Except it also works the other way around if you're fighting player characters. Better be prepared for even your basic combos to suddenly halt dead in their tracks amidst taking damage without any warning whatsoever, because some [=PKers=] were hauled with counter equipment.

** The Azure Knights, a memorable late game throwdown against all three of Aura's knights in [[LandmarkOfLore Hulle Granz Cathedral]]. It's a 3-vs-3 battle where your enemies have as much firepower as you do and even when properly geared up and at recommended level this fight can go sideways very fast if you're not careful and one of their attacks can easily bring you from full health to zero, more than one character if you're unlucky enough. This battle marks a notorious difficulty spike in ''Last Recode'', as while the game in general was made easier, these guys still pose a considerable challenge without preparation or level grinding.

* SignatureScene: Despite all of Haseo's CharacterDevelopment, the one moment that really sticks in a lot of fan's minds comes from his RantInducingSlight at Atoli part way through ''Rebirth''. It's such an infamous KickTheDog moment where, after Atoli was InnocentlyInsensitive about calling out player-killers and those that just played The World like any RPG to get strong (ie. Dewicking "Loads and Loads of Characters".

* ContinuityLockout: The gist of the core G.U. storyline can be understood by the average player, but good luck trying to make sense of anything past that. There's not really any handy logs or data entries to keep track of the LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters, major character and backstory motivations were set up in ''Roots'' which itself contains spoiler {{Foreshadowing}} galore for the games including [[spoiler:who the BigBad would really be]], even more things are tied directly to the VideoGame/DotHackR1Games all over the place while being given minimal context unless you've been paying attention to even minor character habits, and without the [[AllThereInTheManual Terminal Disc]] videos you get absolutely none of the context of what happened between the two game series besides small drip feeds, or the context and investigation of major plot threads in ''this'' series. And the Terminal Disc was [[CrackIsCheaper a limited edition release]] back in the day, though the ''[[UpdatedRerelease Last Recode]]'' remaster thankfully has them.

* WorldOfHam: The main protagonist is fond of screaming people's names and general resolutions, the primary antagonists don't have a care about shouting back, a couple of others love chewing the scenery (some effectively, some played up, some... less effectively), and there's a whole plot event about how the one who doesn't display such tendencies shouldn't be involved too much because he's a rare bit of ''normalcy''. * AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Haseo's jerk tendencies in Rebirth have a few possible explanations. Option 1) the Avatar's amplification of ''The Terror of Death'' means Haseo had a violent Avatar to begin with, shown as early as the first area after his level downgrading. Option 2) Even very early on, it's clear that people who don't know the situation (like Silabus and Gaspard) don't quite believe him yet, and people who do (like Ovan, Pi, and Yata) are hiding ''something'' from him in obtuse answers. Some (like Pi and Sakaki) also don't endear themselves to Haseo by insulting him without much provocation despite Haseo minding his own business up until then, such as Pi's first interaction with Haseo being to call him an "unruly child" and doesn't improve easily. With a rapid string of these unpleasant interactions at the beginning of Rebirth, it's no wonder that Haseo's pissed; either they're ridiculous with the BrutalHonesty or deliberately lying or obscuring things from him.

This is further emphasized with Reminisce's main points being about revealing the true self underneath the facade, and a LOT of these people are NOT being completely honest about themselves.

** A few times Haseo shouts something out are genuinely impressive or dramatic moments; like trying to save Pi from being infected and his "Give us back... all of the Lost Ones!" from the end of Volume 1.
** With any other character, Endrance's flowery language would either be out-of-place or just plain weird. Once you learn about Endrance's history [[spoiler: as Elk from R1]] and his subsequent turnaround, some of his more romanticized speeches are actually quite beautiful and poignant.

** As soon as the guild shop option opens, dump unnecessary items and equipment into it instead of going to the shops; Gaspard is such a good seller most items will be sold for a better price. Every time you do a new area, come back and check Gaspard to pick up the profits and drop off items from your newest haul. You'll soon be stacked with cash, enough to buy at least one of the ridiculously expensive Black Market items before Haseo hits the Arena tournament rounds.

Moving Funny Moments to its own page.

* SugarWiki/FunnyMoments: Some of the "Marriage/Promise" endings, even more so if you pick someone like ''[[spoiler: Azure Kite]]''.
** Early in volume 1, [[HypocriticalHumor Atoli lectures Haseo about how Moon Tree doesn't lecture people]].
*** Even funnier later: Atoli invites Haseo to '''a seminar'''. And, according to a board thread that comes up earlier, this is apparently a regular thing.
** Atoli at the Canard shop in volume 1, where she gets unexpectedly cheeky. Also when she starts messaging Silabus and Gaspard in secret.
---> '''Haseo''': You're still here!?
---> '''Atoli''': Well, you never told me to leave.
---> ''[[BluntYes Silabus and Gaspard nod.]]''
---> '''Haseo''': Then quit standing in my blind spot!
---> '''Atoli''': Oh, so this is the Terror of Death's blind spot, huh?
** If you take the Bikman's Art Supplies with Silabus in the party, Haseo will turn to him and ask if Bikman is supposed to be a guy or a girl; Silabus merely shrugs.
** [[spoiler:Kuhn hitting on a 9-year-old in Volume 1.]] The rest of the quest consists primarily of Pi and Haseo picking on him for it.
** Most of what Kuhn does, period. [[spoiler:Chim Chim Song quest, anyone?]] Or the scene with Haseo at Shop Acorn in Volume 1? He's better comic relief than Piros for cryin' out loud.
** Saku gets BishieSparkles when thinking about "Master En" Endrance. Haseo can ''clearly'' be seen in the background with a look of disgust.
** Alkaid has one of these in Volume 2 when she's teasing Atoli.
---> '''Alkaid:''' We did some really hot, super-secret training, just the two of us! LOL
** Haseo's reaction to Atoli "inviting" Haseo and Pi to visit Moon Tree.
---> '''Haseo:''' Are you trying to PICK A FIGHT?
** Saku's ''brutal'' savaging of Negimaru [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech for being a loser]] after he tries to pick on Bo.
** In Volume 1, when Pi beats Kuhn for his womanizing before the tournament against Alkaid starts.
** The 4komas themselves, naturally, are hilarious.
*** A montage of Haseo acting like a stereotypical teenager (pining over Shino, brutal in fighting PKers, and just plain being rebellious) is presented by Pi's exhibit...to Atoli, Yata, and Sakaki, the last one just snickering, while the first two are in awe. Even funnier when you consider that [[spoiler: in real life, Sakaki is 10, and Yata and Atoli are 17, same as Haseo]].
** Volume 4 adds another Marriage ending with [[spoiler: Ovan.]]
** Last Recode adds a new mode called "Parody Mode" who changes the dialogue in some cutscenes like Haseo being rude to women, Yata being desperate to have a girlfriend and the Azure Knights being a death metal band among others.
*** Yata's bemoaning a girlfriend is especially hilarious in multiple ways. Aside from being a complete inverse of Yata's MotiveRant that the original scene leads to, 1) Yata's acting like the 17-year old he actually is, 2) he calls Haseo "a nerd", and 3) his bemoaning of Pi being an old hag becomes rich when we finally see what Pi's player, Reiko Saeki, looks like offline in later media...and [[spoiler: it turns out she's quite the knockout IRL too, with proportions not unlike Pi's]].
*** Haseo and Ovan post a video of their...performance of Vol. 1's theme song, "Gentle Hands". [[spoiler: The post earns a wordless reaction and a dislike from Shino]].

Trying to understand her better through email chains only shows how deranged her obsession with Endrance is, and she never stops insulting you. It's no wonder that some players choose to [[spoiler:let Saku disappear when it becomes clear that Bo no longer needs a split personality anymore to deal with his mental issues]].
