* HarsherInHindsight: The scene in which Amy shoots the little girl in the astronaut suit to save the future Doctor's life becomes almost painful to watch when you realize that said little girl was actually Melody, the baby daughter stolen from her later in the season, and that this was the first time (in her perspective) Melody got to properly meet her mother after being snatched from her when she was a few days old.

Too many ifs

* HarsherInHindsight: While it's possibly a coincidence, one can't help but wonder if the diner set seen here is actually [[Recap/DoctorWhoS35E12HellBent one that would be seen much later]]. If so, then Amy, Rory, River, and Eleven would've possibly come across a waitress with big eyes trying very hard not to panic at the sight of a past version of her best friend, one who just had his memory wiped as penance for trying to save her from a fate of her own design.

** Even ''funnier'' when you consider the Doctor says two of the three aforementioned men ''fancied'' him. Imagine Creator/LinManuelMiranda's Hamilton or Creator/DaveedDiggs's Jefferson crushing on the Doctor. Can you say FanficFuel?

* {{Narm}}: Amy shooting the astronaut in slow motion is somewhat ruined by the Doctor and Amy still talking, with their voices also slowed down, making the scene come across as a parody of slow-mo scenes.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Given the later reveals about the identity of the little girl and the astronaut, one wonders how much of [[spoiler: River's]] dialogue and actions are lies in order to preserve the timeline, and how much the person in question actually remembers of these events, since it's a rule that characters only retain vague memories of events where more than one version of themself is present.

* LikeYouWouldReallyDoIt: There were fans who didn't believe that the Doctor truly died in this episode. This lead to much speculation and [=WMG=] about how the series was going to resolve it.

* HilariousinHindsight: The little girl is thought to be called "Jefferson Adams Hamilton" due to the intersection she is located on, named after American Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Alexander Hamilton, respectively. The Doctor believes it's possibly the only place in America with those three street names on the same junction. Post-2015, this is especially funny given the popularity of the musical ''Theatre/{{Hamilton}}'', in which Hamilton's bitter rivalries with Jefferson and Adams are highlighted.

* DudeNotFunny: Much of the episode seems to try and good-humoredly tease America and Americans in general, but many of the jokes come across as more condescending than anything else. For some Americans, The Doctor implying some of the founding father's sexual orientation was anything other than average can be seen as a rather tacky and tasteless jab.
