* SpecialEffectFailure: Well, more of a continuity error, but during the scene where the Doctor and Donna are in the window washers' cart, and Foster is on the roof, she cuts one of the cables. In the shots focussing on her, she cuts the right cable, but in the shots of the Doctor and Donna, the ''left'' cable is the one that breaks. Aaargh.

* HarsherInHindsight: Sylvia tells Donna something to the effect of "It's not like the 1980s. No one's unemployed these days except you!". The episode aired in April 2008. The economic meltdown later that year and subsequent recession would sadly render that line incredibly dated.

** Look closely when The Doctor and Donna are talking outside the TARDIS; the interior is clearly just a matte painting.

* JerkassWoobie: Stacey Campbell certainly didn't deserve her fate of being dissolved into fat, but the fact that she was about to head out on a date in which she planned to ''dump'' the guy, due to her thinking she could now get a better guy thanks to her weight loss, didn't exactly make her easy to feel sympathy for either.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Humanity already knows about aliens by this episode. In the previous one, all of London evacuates in case of alien mischief. If Adipose Industries had been open about what they were doing, a large number of people would have accepted that so that they could lose weight. The Shadow Proclamations might have disagreed but it would have been totally legit as far as Earth was concerned.
