* RonTheDeathEater: Similar to how the Batter is seen in a more postive light, Zacharie is cast in a much darker shade in this game. Whereas in the original game, he was a mostly neutral shopkeep that occasionally dispensed hints, in this one, he's cast as Sugar's {{jerk}} boyfriend who left her behind and possibly even cheated on her with the ''Queen'', of all people. He's absent throughout the entire game, [[spoiler:only appearing if you get the Bad Ending, where he is shown being swallowed by the darkness]].

* DracoInLeatherPants: This game's Batter is one of the more sympathetic takes. Of course considering how subjective the original game is, it's somewhat forgivable. An example of this among fans for this game in particular though is probably the fandom depiction of Bad Batter, since fanworks tend to play up his initially cute and sweet seeming personality and ignore the [[BitchInSheepsClothing more]] [[ImAHumanitarian unpleasant]] [[AxeCrazy things]] [[PoisonousFriend he]] [[{{Jerkass}} does.]]

* RonTheDeathEater: Similar to how the Batter is seen in a more postive light, Zacharie is cast in a much darker shade in this game. Whereas in the original game, he was a mostly neutral shopkeep that occasionally dispensed hints, in this one, he's cast as Sugar's BastardBoyfriend who left her behind and possibly even cheated on her with the ''Queen'', of all people. He's absent throughout the entire game, [[spoiler:only appearing if you get the Bad Ending, where he is shown being swallowed by the darkness]].

** This is also poked fun at along with FoeYay in the Panic In Ballville issue that Ghost Batter finds in the library in Workforce 1. Magenta Ninja gets caught in the middle of Ballman and Boxxer arguing/exchanging witty banter with each other and eventually snarkily accuses them of [[BelligerentSexualTension wanting to ask each other to the prom]], to their surprise and confusion.

* HilariousInHindsight: The fact that this game has a Ghost Batter as a protagonist has gotten a huge laugh out of those familiar with fellow ''OFF'' fangame ''[[VideoGame/UNKNOWNGame UNKNOWN]]''. Bonus points since the two iterations of Ghost Batter are polar opposites of each other.
* HoYay: Just examine a mailbox in Workforce 2. Ghost Batter will yell at Bad Batter for wanting to open it to look at the letters, which leads to:

* JerkassWoobie: Bad Batter and Ghost Batter both qualify, but despite how loud obnoxious and prone to curses and insults Ghost Batter is, Bad Batter is definitely the bigger {{Jerkass}} of the two.

** Ghost Batter scolding Bad Batter after Bad ate the group of Elsen. He had sincerely hoped that being free from the Batter would have fixed Bad Batter, but its obvious that he has problems of his own.
** The Batter has multiple breakdowns over the game, with the fisrt being after his foray into Squirure's house, Ghost Batter and Bad Batter find him in the alleyway crying (although he denies such). Later in the Science Factory he has a full-blown HeroicBSOD after [[spoiler:an Elsen asks him to MercyKill him, writing his own suicide note before being shot by [=KNO3=]. He has one final low moment when [=KNO3=] shoots and kills Celeste, as he begs her to get up and promises to fix her, even attempting to cast a healing spell on her before leaving.]]

** [[spoiler:Black Batter and White Batter's history, where Black Batter commits suicide. When you play as the White Batter and travel up to the top of the building you can see him on the edge but cannot stop him, as the door is locked. All you can do is bang on the glass door ineffectually. If you travel back down and find his body on the ground, White asks Black to [[PleaseWakeUp wake up]] before breaking down and crying. When you meet their shades later in the Science Factory Black Batter asks you if you've seen White Batter and mentions that he loves him very much and, while hoping that he straightens up one day, will always care for him. When you meet White Batter he mentions that he makes messes in hope that Black comes looking for him, and that he's not spiteful towards him.]]
** Despite the Bad Ending being mostly Nightmare Fuel, two instances are very sad. [[spoiler:At one point during the Batter's breakdown he mentions that this is no one's fault but his own as if he's reassuring...someone right before everything hits the fan, and then at the end of the very short credits (shown over the image of a black baseball cap in a white void, no less) is an apology.]]

* ThatOneBoss: Quite a few people find [[spoiler:Omega]] to be the hardest boss in the game. What's worse is that he [[ShmuckBait gives you the option to save just before fighting him]], which can screw you over if you come after him underleveled since you may have to start all over again if you do. [[labelnote:tip]]Since Omega has a move that drains CP and has high agility, which allows him to act multiple times before any of the Batters can act, use Ghost Batter to increase all the batters attack power, and a skill that increases his defense and intelligence, which also gives him Hasty (allows him to act faster), and focus on using regular attacks (the weapons you have at that point should attack twice anyway). Note the Batter's healing abilities, and bring plenty of tickets and flesh.[[/labelnote]]
** [[labelnote:advice]] Yelling Charge is your best friend for the [[spoiler:Omega]] fight. It's surprisingly overpowered once Ghost Batter's status is "Charged". [[/labelnote]]

* BrokenBase / LoveItOrHateIt: OFF fans either love it for adding some closure to the original story and introducing new characters, or hate it for being needlessly dark.

* FreudianExcuse: The reason why Bad Batter acts out like he does is because [[spoiler:Since his brother always tried to keep him from causing trouble when he was alive, he thinks he can bring his brother back if he's bad enough. Nevermind his brother is, in fact, still around and trying to keep him out of trouble, because he refuses to acknowledge Ghost Batter as his brother.]] WordOfGod says he knows deep down that it doesn't work that way, but he doesn't want to admit it. [[spoiler:Of course as a result, all he does is cause Ghost Batter more pain.]]

* NightmareFuel: Given that it's an OFF fangame, this is to be expected.
** Meeting the Judge in a dream sequence at the beginning of the game. His head has been smashed in and parts of his bloody skull and brain stick out, and he wonders if the Batter is worth anything now that his purpose of purifying the world has been fulfilled.
** Bad Batter hunting down the Elsens after they inadvertently insult the former. As you do damage to them their sprite changes, becoming more and more bloody while also having their eyes gouged out and their heads cracked open. Every time you choose an attack you're also treated to a nice message detailing what you're doing to these poor people, and this has to be done 5 times over.

** Although awesome as he gives Bad Batter his comeuppance, when Ghost Batter finds out what Bad has done he ''tears him apart with his bare hands''. Fittingly, when Bad Batter joins the party he's completely dead.
** Squirure's house is a terrifying MindScrew. Whenever you travel up a flight of stairs the game cuts to a completely black screen with no noise and cryptic things written on it. [[spoiler: At one point it breaks the fourth wall and calls out the player with a huge, red '''''YOU''''']]. When you meet Squirure on the top floor he serves the Batter soup, and says that truthfully the contents of the bowl change according to the person you eats out of it.

** The Batter's nightmare sequence in Workforce 2. [[spoiler:It starts with him entering a house and looking in a mirror, which shows him with his face scribbled out and '''NOTHING''' written in red next to him. In another room there is a single knife and lots of Batter clones, interacting with the knife gives a yes/no prompt with no question. Choosing 'yes' cuts to an image of the Batter stabbing himself in the chest before it cuts back to the room with all the other Batters having been brutally murdered.]]
** We then learn the story of [[spoiler:Black Batter and White Batter, who had been told since the beginning that one of them would die and the other would become a monster. Black Batter chooses to commit suicide, and we are treated to a picture of Black Batter with his arms torn from their sockets and his head broken, with gore splattered next to him.]]
** Workforce 3 isn't any better, as the Batter's experiences begin to take their toll on him. [[spoiler:He's first tricked into going into the Science Factory alone, and meets an Elsen who knows another way out. After travelling with him for a while and having to meet the shades of White and Black Batter, the Elsen reveals that he doesn't want to live anymore and tries to talk the Batter into a suicide pact, which clearly distresses the Batter. After killing said Elsen the Batter hurries to flip the switch to get out of there...and sits down and writes what is clearly a suicide note for himself.]]
** The Prison is full of [[spoiler:Elsen who are clearly on some sort of drug that causes them to mutilate themselves with a huge smile on their face. Later on you even find wiggling body parts of said Elsens, and there is a huge room full of them that don't say anything when you try to interact with them.]]
** How can you forget [[spoiler:Puppetworm Batter?]] Basically his entire existence is NightmareFuel. [[spoiler:He's a being with the basic appearance of our Batter, but he is constantly wearing a SlasherSmile too big for his face and has a [[BodyHorror giant disgusting worm-like creature attached to one arm]] in place of his hand.]] What's worse is what he represents: [[spoiler:He's a manifestation of the futility of White Batter and Black Batter's attempts to [[YouCantFightFate fight their fates.]]]]
