* WWE almost signed Wrestling/NewJack. Although his tryout match with Val Venis was really short and lackluster, his promo skills impressed Wrestling/McMahon and he was well-liked in the locker room. Due to the inevitable {{Bowdlerization}} and Vince's concern that New Jack would seriously hurt someone, it didn't happen.

* Wrestling/TheUndertaker's Wrestling/WrestleMania Winning Streak has ''PLENTY'':
** The Wrestling/UltimateWarrior was originally going to be the Undertaker's rival at [=WrestleMania=] VIII, but Warrior's ego didn't allow to lose at a match at [=WrestleMania=], so Jake "The Snake" Roberts was chosen instead. The alternate scenario had it that Warrior would finish his feud with Roberts, then turn his attention back to Undertaker before finishing off Undie once and for all. Neither scenario, of course, came to pass, given that Warrior had been fired by Vince [=McMahon=] in 1991 (shortly after Wrestling/SummerSlam, over a pay dispute) and that Warrior was just returning in time for [=WrestleMania=] VIII, but had the latter scenario happened -- and some say that was indeed how the feud that was mapped out by WWF's story writers, or so say disappointed Warrior fans want us to believe -- it is possible that the Undertaker gimmick and thus push would have been all but destroyed and that Mark Calaway's stay the WWF would have thus ended in short order.
** The Undertaker's original match at [=WrestleMania=] 21 was going to be for him to face a newcomer named Mordecai, a [[SinisterMinister heel religious zealot]] [[TheFundamentalist who punished wrestlers for sinning]]. It was revealed that [[https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2017/06/28/wwe-mordecai-kevin-fertig-vince-mcmahon both wrestlers and even Vince McMahon himself agreed for the two of them to feud for the majority of 2004]]. However, after Mordecai got involved in a bar fight, Vince angrily released him and the plan never came to be.
*** The next planned match for him was to have Taker team up with Wrestling/{{Kane}} to face Gene Snitsky and Heidenreich, both of whom were feuding with Kane and the Undertaker (respectively) at the time. However, Undertaker opted to face Wrestling/RandyOrton instead.
*** It is also believed that Undertaker had originally approached Wrestling/RandyOrton in having him break the streak at [=WrestleMania=] 21 (which would have worked quite very well given Orton's "Legend Killer" gimmick at the time). However, Orton turned down the offer out of respect to Taker.
** Wrestling/MarkHenry was also briefly considered to break the Undertaker's streak.
** According to Wrestling/KurtAngle, he was considered to end Undertaker's streak at [=WrestleMania=] 22 in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship instead of at No Way Out 2006. Undertaker was willing to take the loss because he hadn't had a 5-Star [=WrestleMania=] match and the writing team was willing to do it to keep Angle looking strong as champion. If this had happened, would Rey Mysterio Jr have gained the World Heavyweight Championship during the Eddiesploitation angle?
** According to a Blog posted by Wrestling/{{Edge|Wrestler}} and Wrestling/ChrisJericho that was posted around the time of [=WrestleMania=] 31, Edge was also considered to break the Streak during the time of [=WrestleMania=] XXIV, Edge however replied with a sharp "Hell no," believing that the streak should not have been ended.
** Wrestling/{{Sting}} was approached to wrestle the Undertaker at ''[[http://www2.dailystar.co.uk/inthering/view/184049/Wrestlemania-takes-hold WrestleMania XXVII]]'', but turned it down because he disliked Vince [=McMahon=]'s treatment of former WCW talent. There was what appears to be a rather interesting side-effect to Sting turning the offer down; Wrestling/TripleH's entrance included an abbreviated version of the Music/{{Metallica}} song "For Whom the Bell Tolls". Considering that Sting's entrance music in WCW for a while used to be "Seek & Destroy", it's thought that WWE had secured the rights to a play a Metallica track at the event in advance specifically for Sting, and decided to use a different track when he declined the offer.
** There were apparently plans to have Wrestling/WadeBarrett vs. Undertaker at ''[=WrestleMania=] XXVII'' quite early on, which appears to be evidenced by the rather sudden beatdown by Wrestling/TheNexus upon the Undertaker at Bragging Rights 2010.
** To add to the Undertaker's history with ''[=WrestleMania=] XXVII'''s matches, the original plan was for Undertaker to fight Wrestling/BrockLesnar as well, back when Lesnar was still in the UFC and three years before they did face off at ''[=WrestleMania=] XXX'', where Taker's streak ended. Wrestling/PaulHeyman ultimately revealed this to be true in an interview and that HE was the one that proposed the idea and that he wanted to show Undertaker and Brock Lesner's real-life confrontation at a UFC event to setup their match. However, Dana White (UFC President at the time) rejected the idea because he refused to let Lesnar fight and wrestle at the same time.
** When Wrestling/TheUndertaker was to defend The Streak against Wrestling/CMPunk at [=WrestleMania=] 29, WWE originally wanted to do something with Punk's manager Wrestling/PaulHeyman going up against Taker's longtime manager Wrestling/PaulBearer. Sadly, Bearer passed away on March 5, 2013, just a few weeks before Taker and Punk's match at Mania.
** On Wrestling/StoneColdSteveAustin's podcast, Wrestling/TommyDreamer mentioned that he had worked out a deal for Wrestling/{{Abyss}} to come to WWE, and they were even considering him as an opponent for Wrestling/TheUndertaker at [=WrestleMania=]. Unfortunately, Abyss got cold feet about leaving Wrestling/{{TNA}}, and backed out of the deal at the last minute. He wouldn't officially join them until 2019 (along with Sonjay Dutt), albeit as a backstage producer for NXT.

* During her time in developmental, Shantelle Taylor (aka former TNA Knockout Wrestling/TaylorWilde) wrestled in dark matches for ''[=SmackDown=]'' under the name San-Eye while wearing a mask. The story goes that she would've been called up as the masked San-Eye character eventually winning the cruiserweight title before unmasking to reveal she was actually a woman. This was dropped after only a few matches and Taylor was sent back down to developmental before eventually being released.
* Wrestling/MontelVontaviousPorter once proposed to WWE what would essentially would have been their version of [[Wrestling/{{TNA}} 3 Live Kru]] with Wrestling/JohnCena and [[Wrestling/RonKillings R-Truth]].

* After impressing during a ''[=SmackDown=]'' dark match, The Briscoes were invited to the revived version of FCW in 2009, for a week of free developmental. Their ring work was deemed impressive and the locker room liked them (which isn't surprising considering it was full of ROH veterans). Then the Briscoes were sent home and told over the phone they weren't "cosmetically pleasing" enough for WWE. Well, Mark wasn't getting dentures, and no one even had any idea what Wrestling/JohnLaurinaitis thought was wrong with Jay, so that was that.

* After the Atlanta Falcon Moose left the NFL to become a pro wrestler, he was invited to a WWE training camp and offered a contract. Moose took the training but declined the job in favor of Wrestling/DragonGate USA and Wrestling/RingOfHonor. Late Summer 2016, DG USA is no more and WWE is finally able to lure Moose away from ROH, only to be outbid by Wrestling/{{TNA}}! How they pulled it off is a mystery for the ages.

* The plan for Wrestling/CMPunk was for him to face Seth Rollins for his World Heavyweight Championship at ''[=WrestleMania=] XL'' but during the 2024 Men's Rumble got injured taking a Future Shock DDT from Wrestling/DrewMcIntyre which would end up tearing his right tricep. On the Raw after the Royal Rumble, Punk announced he would unfortunately not be on the ''[=WrestleMania=] XL'' card due to this injury requiring surgery and not being able to recover in time for it. [=McIntyre=] would go onto face Rollins at ''[=WrestleMania=] 40'' instead after winning the men's chamber match at Elimination Chamber Perth.
