** In the sequel, it's shown that after the scare he got at the end of the first movie, Jimmy dealt with the fear in an unhealthy way, spending the whole year cowering and becoming completely obsessed with the monsters. He goes to extreme lengths to avoid having to confront them again, such as preparing traps in his room, throwing out his closet and removing the legs from his bed to stop monsters from hiding there, and finally trying to sabotage Halloween itself. His plans to cancel Halloween eventually lead him to meet the monsters again, and he realizes that they aren't as bad as he thought, finally allowing him to stop living in fear and enjoy Halloween again.
