[[WMG:"What If...Happy Saved Christmas" is set in the main MCU universe.]]
Unlike almost every other What If episode, which base their premises on significant deviations from known canon, the Christmas episode works as more of a side story that could actually be handwaved into fitting into the established timeline. The events of the episode occur on a christmas sometime between Avengers and Age of Ultron and do not overlap with any established canon events, Justin Hammer gets defeated and sent back to jail by the end, putting him right back where he is in the main canon, and Happy's Freak transformation could be easily handwaved away by several possible explanations, such as he was cured after the events of the episode, the transformation was temporary, or he just hasn't used his powers since. Thus, the episode could easily fit into the main MCU just as well as any alternate branch.
