nerd is now a redirect to an index and not a trope https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1656022359021125800&page=1

* Between it and Barry from ''Series/BestFriendsWhenever'''s appearance straight out of the gate, Disney seems to want to move away from the {{Nerd}} stereotype, at least in girls-as-target-demo shows, so as not to limit their actors' TeenIdol potential. This gave Jacobs and crew the opportunity to tell a realistic story about a middle-schooler changing an aspect of himself while still [[BeYourself being himself]], freaking out the adult PeripheryDemographic with the possibility that "Donnie Barnes, Regular Guy" could become [[Series/FamilyMatters Stefon Urquelle]] v2.0 along the way. [[FridgeBrilliance Well played]].

* This most likely depends on if Danielle Fishel gets pregnant and when Auggie starts aging up. They'll totally pull an Amy and Alan at some point.

* Farkle: Atheism at the start of the series. Possibly agnostic after"Girl Meets Belief". Possibly exploring (or already believing) Christianity by "Girl Meets New Year" as he mentions Archangel Gabriel blowing his horn at the end. Which is in the Book of Revelation in the Bible. Seemingly Christian by "Girl Meets Christmas Maya"

That would explain why, during tryouts for baseball, he could never see the ball coming. At some point he'll get a prescription and start wearing contacts or glasses.

[[WMG: Maya is gay]]
She and Riley have a very close relationship, that often includes holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes (as noted on the HoYay page). She only shows interest in one guy during the first season and a half, and that's someone she rarely sees and can't be in a relationship with, that could be on purpose. Then, the next guy she starts to like is Lucas. Of course he's nice, cute, etc. but he's also someone that she couldn't date, since he likes Riley and Riley likes him. When they try to date, it doesn't work at all, and she ends up dumping a smoothie on his head. She also seems the least interested of the friend group in ending the triangle; Riley and Lucas are more often the ones to suggest that they need to make a choice, Maya usually just follows along with their plans. During the multi-episode "Maya is acting like Riley" arc, she stops being herself, and at one point says "I need to know who I am before I know who I like". Their new art teacher, who is the first one to suggest that Maya is drifting and has nothing to say, notices that her abstract painting of a bench (which she chose because she and Riley had sat on the bench together before) is actually a purple cat, Riley's signature painting. He says that she does actually have something to say, she's screaming. And in "Girl Meets Upstate", either Riley or Maya (I forget who), notices the large amount of photos that Shawn has of Katy and Maya, and says that he's "screaming" as well. A clear parallel.
In "Girl Meets True Maya", she ends up painting a rainbow surrounding the word "Hope" on a wall, in a park based on Christopher Park, which is located very close to Stonewall Inn, an important LGBTQ icon.
Then, in "Girl Meets Ski Lodge Part 2", she's talking to Lucas about [[spoiler:how she doesn't like him as more than a friend after all]], she mentions as an aside that "[she] doesn't want a nice boy? Yikes." This isn't said as a joke, this is her mumbling to herself quickly, because she's trying to hide it. There was also a moment at the end of the episode where [[spoiler:Riley again compares the relationship with Maya and her to Corpanga, calling them both "extraordinary relationships".]] So who knows.
Now, she could also be bisexual, but as a bi person, she really seems more like a lesbian who thinks she has to be straight so she forces herself to act like it.

[[WMG: Maya and Josh don't actually have feelings for each other.]]
The above WMG explains the very popular theory that Maya is a lesbian. Her "crushing" on Josh would still make sense, since he's a guy who dresses like a pop-punk boy band member, and therefore it would be socially correct for Maya to declare admiration for him; he also is rather safe, and Maya knows he won't intentionally harm her. Maya found the perfect almost-beard. Josh, on the other hand, just wants to get Maya to stop annoying him.
