The correct spelling would be Schlitzrüssler, unfortunately, my previous contributor page can no longer be linked to due to the TVTropes site having a problem with umlauts.

A Schlitzrüssler is a bizarre-looking insectivore mammal from the Order Eulipotyphla, Family Solenodontidae, indigenous to and (these days) endemic solely on the Greater Antilles islands in the Caribbean. Fossils show that Solenodon species lived on the North American mainland 30 million years ago. Several Solenodon species are extinct. Of the two surviving species (Solenodon cubanus on Cuba, and Solenodon paradoxus on Hispaniola island) the Cuban solenodon was only rediscovered alive and well recently. Characteristics of solenodons are their elongated nasal proboscis, their thick scaly tail and their five-toed feet with powerful claws.

The troper Schlitzrüssler is a female biologist who lives in Germany.

She has contributed to countless trope entries, has been one of the most prolific contributors to the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog page, and successfully launched the trope Peer Pressure Makes You Evil on September 4, 2008.
