20-year old nerd from Australia.
Is totally obsessed with webcomics, pimping Australia and Australian shows, comedy, and debates.
Has fun building universes, and
wishes he had the energy to actually sit down and write has now got about twenty pages of a comic written as well a few decent short films (as well as a few
extraordinarily terrible short films.
Wants to write and produce his own animated show one day. Often looks among here for ideas.
Things I've done:
Did I mention that I'm from Australia? Because I am. I totally, totally am.
Here's a list of my favourite stuff to come out of the Pitch Generator and the Story Generator:
- James Bond meets Fraggle Rock.
- Scrubs: The Animated Series.
- Irregular Webcomic: The Animated Series.
- Greys Anatomy meets Count Duckula.
- Artemis Fowl meets The Mighty Ducks.
- Law and Order meets Death Note.
- Transformers meets Columbo.
- The Magic School Bus meets The Godfather.
- A Broken Hero has been sent to hell at the start of the fiction, which happens to be a large hotel. Broken Hero has killed a man, and consequently has blood on his hands constantly.
Here's a list of my favourite tropes:
- You Suck - These protagonists tend to be funniest. There may be other reasons I like it as well.
- Painting the Fourth Wall - Well, I think it's clever.
- Heroic Sociopath
- What Do You Mean, It's Not Awesome? - Especially when it's done on purpose, and especially when it isn't. I have a high tolerance of Narm.
- Grey and Grey Morality - I love being forced to think.
- Troperiffic - These tend to be fun.
- Break the Cutie - I love seeing people broken. I am a horrible person.
- Black Comedy - I'm big on all forms of irony. I also refuse to see the difference between Dramatic and Comedic irony - it's all comedic to me.
- Character Development - I love watching people change and figuring out how they think. Like I said, I love to think.
- Deadpan Snarker - Being both one of these and surrounded by these, I love seeing more of them.
- Ho Yay - I love this a little too much.
- Hurricane of Puns - I also love puns a little too much.
- In The Style Of - Screw people who can't take a joke - out-of-genre covers are awesome.
- Fridge Brilliance - Boosting my ego by making me feel clever for figuring something out always scores points with me. I also try to cause this in readers when I write and plan things out.
- Lyrical Dissonance
- Whats A Secret Four - Not so much in what I read, but when I write speculative fiction, I use this trope rather than exposition. I've written an entire (extremely short, granted) film based around the concept.
- You Bastard - Especially the kind that seems to be It's great that you liked my story, but I'll tell it how I want to tell it, not you. Or, more succinctly, Shut up, fanboys!. See Metal Gear Solid 2.
