Hi, there.
First off, it's worth mentioning that Kjorteo's name is pronounced kyour-TAY-oh. Lots of people seem to have trouble with that one, and even he himself can't actually say it verbally without tripping up sometimes. The name comes from a character in an old version of a story he was working on at one point named Kjorteo Kalante (kyour-TAY-oh kuh-LAWN-tay.) The current author Kjorteo decided that the old character Kjorteo was kind of dumb and wrote him out, but not before deciding he at least liked the name and stealing it for himself.
Kjorteo's interests include:
Kjorteo is a
Serial Tweaker. He is also
The Guy.
Kjorteo has a particular interest in the effect of nostalgia on 8- and 16-bit games he played. He knows for a fact that certain games, such as
8 Eyes and
Lagoon, are unambiguously
So Bad Its Horrible, but he personally loves them, because he wasn't aware they were bad back then and has too many strong memories associated with them now. He still gets a mild case of
Nightmare Fuel from the ruined town of Hauksness in the original
Dragon Warrior for this reason, even though it's only about 20x20 tiles big and the poorly-aged graphics make the random placement of debris and such look more like someone's tileset editor exploded than like anything resembling spooky to the un-nostalgic eye today. Anyone who feels the same way—about nostalgia and games in general, if not necessarily about Dragon Warrior or Hauskness in particular—should come and share his or her stories in
the LJ community
we have for that.
If you're looking to find Kjorteo somewhere, you can probably just pick any website with a community (
LiveJournal, etc.) or any instant messaging protocol or basically anything that has usernames people sign up for, and check if there's someone named "Kjorteo." His unusual name means there will probably never be a name collision—if there's a Kjorteo there, it's him, and if not, then it's probably one of those sites that he wouldn't be caught dead using, like
MySpace.
Articles he created:
He once had another list here for articles he so much as contributed to, but it turns out his Contributor Page seems to have that covered.
