Hello. :) I am a huge nerd when it comes to video games, especially retro games! I was born in 1991, so I guess I'm considered old nowadays :/ but gaming is definitely still my passion.
... Should I just make this page a huge list of my favourite games? Why not!
Top favourite Legend of Zelda game is Majora's Mask. If I were to hypothetically make a Zelda tier list, I would completely be unable to think of where to put Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom... I love them but they're so different to the others, it's hard to rank them, you know?
Favourite Sonic the Hedgehog games... probably Sonic 3&K, and also Sonic Adventure 1. I also don't hate Unleashed, Shadow the Hedeghog, or Sonic 2006 btw. I DO dislike Lost World and especially Forces, though!
Favourite Pokémon gen.... well, Gen 3 was when the series started getting more "playable" and less janky, and Gen 6 was when the series started declining towards its current downward trajectory...... So I guess I'd split the difference and say Gen 5 is my favourite? But I never really played any of the Gen 5 games as extensively as I played Pearl, HeartGold or Omega Ruby, so idk. Not happy with the dex cuts in recent gens, that's for sure. :(
Favourite Castlevania game.... difficult to decide, as I love all the GBA and Nintendo DS ones so so much. A decade ago I would have said Dawn of Sorrow, but nowadays I think I lean more towards Order of Ecclesia. :)
Every single Kirby game is amazing, so I can't really pick a true favourite there... but Forgotten Land really enamoured me recently, so I'll say that one. Before that it would have probably been Super Star Ultra.
Best Fire Emblem game? ... Probably Fire Emblem GBA, aka Blazing Blade. Three Houses is excellent too.
Best Super Smash Bros game is Melee, but I'm no good at it, so I guess I'll default to saying Ultimate instead...
Best Metroid game is Prime 1. Followed by Zero Mission.
I don't know if my opinion for best Mega Man game is maybe unusual - for the classic series, I like Mega Man & Bass the best, and for the X series I like Mega Man X4 the best. ...
I recently got into the Ys series... I really liked the fan-translated Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys. :D :D :D I also really liked the Korean-exclusive Ys II Special for MS-DOS! No fan translation yet unfortunately, so I had to play it illiterately. Still really good, if you don't mind the unfortunate crashing and game-breaking softlocking bugs. :( ok maybe it's not the greatest but i liked it anyway
i think the Wonder Boy / Monster World series is overrated. They're decent-ish at best. ... however I will say every single Wonder Boy game is better than Ys III Wanderers from Ys. ...Ys III I think is just. ...really bad.
I hate it when Zelda fans hate on Zelda II. compare Zelda II to Ys III and see what an ACTUAL bad sidescroller RPG looks like, eh?
