* CreatorBacklash: To the point that J.J. Abrams himself complained about the poor quality of the game after the release of ''Film/StarTrekIntoDarkness''. As of 2016, the game is no longer able to be bought digitally, with the only avenues open to curious players being second-hand keys from resellers or retail copies.

Per X Killer cleanup thread, the example is a huge stretch that applies to somebody who reviewed/experienced the work, as opposed to anyone actually involved with the work itself.

* CreatorKiller: Not for Digital Extremes, which managed to bounce back with the very successful ''VideoGame/{{Warframe}}'' after ''Star Trek'''s abysmal failure; rather, this game has the distinction of being this for the WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay Let's Play channel. While by all accounts the game alone wasn't directly responsible for the Super Best Friends breaking up, it was a few hours into the game that Pat and Matt came to the conclusion that the chemistry between them was irrevocably gone; the fact they were playing a terrible co-op game together likely helped speed up this realization.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The game was removed from Steam and other digital distribution services in mid-2016, making it pretty much impossible to obtain online unless you buy a key from a second-hand reseller or try to find a retail copy.

* TroubledProduction: Initially announced in 2010, the production was fraught with several problems. The original lead producer, Tom Lesinski, was terminated by Paramount soon after making the decision to produce the game in-house (the first such title from Paramount to do so) instead of licensing it out to a third-party developer, as they had done previously. Although the game was intended to be released in 2012, it was shelved for a year and seemingly had additional cutscenes and dialogue coded in to make it a more deliberate tie-in to ''Film/StarTrekIntoDarkness''. When the game launched, it was seen as a buggy, haphazard mess, with the PC version completely failing to activate the co-op mode correctly and many bugs and errors present in the code. Creator/JJAbrams went on record afterwards to say that the poor quality of the game (and its subsequent reception) was hurtful to him, and like put a damper on the box office of the film itself.
