Trivia / Spoon

Go To

  • Colbert Bump: A large amount of their mainstream recognition can be attributed to TV show soundtracks and talk show appearances.
  • Old Shame: Daniel has indicated that he feels this way about their debut album.
  • Screwed by the Network: Their treatment when they were briefly signed to major label Elektra Records is this. After A Series of Sneaks turned out to be an Acclaimed Flop, A&R rep Ron Laffitte, who promised to stick with the band, resigned from Elektra, which led to Spoon being dropped a week later. Their treatment wound up inspiring the songs "The Agony of Laffitte" and "Laffitte Don't Fail Me Now". Ironically, they found far more success signing to the indie label Merge rather than Elektra.
