* DiedDuringProduction: A famous example. Creator/BelaLugosi died after filming only a few seconds of footage completely independent of the plot, and was rather obviously replaced by Wood's wife's chiropractor Tom Mason, who covered everything below the eyes.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The film was originally titled ''Grave Robbers From Outer Space'', hence the final words of Criswell's opening monologue, which would've been a TitleDrop. It was changed very late into production following a test screening -- some sources report that it was [[ExecutiveMeddling due to pressure from the Southern Baptist ministers who produced the film]] and felt the title was blasphemous, while others claim that it was done preemptively at the behest of Wood himself as to not upset those same producers.

Not a trivia trope.

* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: This film has a lot of similarities with ''Film/InvisibleInvaders''. In both films the aliens are scared about the humans experimenting with weapons of mass destruction and technology they don't truly understand, so they reanimate corpses in order to kill the living until humanity surrender. Both films were released in the same year and although ''Plan 9'' was filmed 3 years earlier, ''Invisible Invaders'' appeared on theaters a month before. At first 'Invaders' got much better reviews and became a [[VindicatedByCable TV]] CultClassic, but the film felt into obscurity while 'Plan 9' became a huge cult sensation in the 80's.

"Character Outlives Actor" is when the character isn't dead but no longer appears in the series because their actor died.

Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame: No, the film's costume designer is not ''that'' UsefulNotes/DickCheney.

* GodNeverSaidThat: Many people believe that before plan 9 takes effect "plans 1 to 8 failed" or similar, citing the movie or Ed Wood himself. Turns out that nowhere in the movie, nor in any statements of Ed Wood, any mentions are made about what the other plans (if they even existed) would have been, or even if they deal with earth invasion at all.
