** While the franchise had been relatively obscure in America for some time outside of the aforementioned Capcom fighting game and MemeticMutation, the 2012 anime, as well as its immensely positive reception from many anime reviewers on the Internet, has caused its popularity to skyrocket stateside. Its popularity in English-speaking territories further improved when both the 2012 anime and the ''Stardust Crusaders'' sequel were added to Website/{{Crunchyroll}}. This is the reason why the UsefulNotes/PlayStation3 game ''All Star Battle'' saw a North American release. Finally, airing on Creator/{{Toonami}} gave it probably the biggest bump for U.S. audiences, allowing the series to move from obscure to mainstream.

* ShownTheirWork: * ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' frequently pauses the plot to explain random things in great detail, from the local customs in the place the protagonists are travelling through, to the construction of a villain's favorite guitar and why he bought it. [[Creator/HirohikoAraki Hirohiko Araki's]] AuthorAvatar and self-parody Rohan Kishibe [[AuthorFilibuster summarizes this approach as follows]]:
-->"By the way, you wouldn't happen to know the secret to writing interesting comics, would you? It's reality! Reality is the lifeblood that makes a work pulse with energy! Reality itself is entertainment! You might think comics draw on imagination and fantasy, but that's wrong! To write something interesting, you have to write [[WriteWhatYouKnow what you've seen, what you've done, what you've experienced!]]" ''(Proceeds to [[RefugeInAudacity dissect a spider with his pen while explaining how anyone who includes a spider in a comic must know everything about it down to the taste]].)''
** This also extends to Creator/DavidProduction (DP) in regards to the animated adaptation. Back when Araki was publishing the manga adaptations of Parts [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable 4]] and [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind 5]], they were instances of TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture.[[labelnote:*]]Part 4 was published from 1992 to 1995, but took place in 1999 and Part 5 was published from 1995 to 1999, but took place in 2001.[[/labelnote]] At the time, Araki depicted certain objects' designs the only way he could back then, but since the animated adaptation began in 2012, DP took the opportunity to treat Parts 4 and 5 as [[PeriodPiece Period Pieces]]. One example was the [[ProductPlacement Pepsi]] logo towards the end of Part 4. In the manga, the logo's design was incorrect for the setting of 1999, but DP used the correct updated logo during the aforementioned year for the anime. Another example is the technology as seen throughout Part 5. Stylized colors withstanding in some instances, DP made sure to update the tech designs from the manga to resemble what would've been seen around 2001, such as Abbacchio's headphones, Cioccolata and Secco's cellphones, and several laptops.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Araki originally planned for ''Part 3'' to be a modern retelling of the Literature/{{Dracula}} story, but only one of the ''Magazine/ShonenJump'' editors thought it was a good idea, the rest saying the series was already too focused on foreign settings/characters.
** In Part 3, Araki considered having [[HeelFaceTurn Hol Horse join up with the heroes]]. However, Araki realized that Hol Horse was already very similar to Polnareff and thus he remained a villain.
** Part 3 was originally intended to be the last part, as Araki had intended for the franchise to end with a trilogy. However, it ended up being much more popular than he expected, and as a result, he continued onwards.
** Had the original early 2000s manga translation of ''Stardust Crusaders'' sold better in the United States, Viz was considering possibly skipping to ''Stone Ocean'' and translating that afterwards (since fans would already be familiar with Jotaro, and DIO shows up in flashback).
** Fugo was originally planned to be TheMole for the Boss in ''Part 5'' with Giorno killing him as a result but Araki found the idea too heartbreaking. Some fans suspect that Cioccolata, with his [[SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute flesh-devouring mold stand]] and appearance as one of the final enemies in Part 5 before the Boss is faced (as well as receiving the longest NoHoldsBarredBeatdown from Giorno), were conceived to replace Araki's planned ideas for Fugo.
** Araki initially wanted to name Viviano Westwood's Stand "Earth, Wind, and Fire" but instead went with the name "Planet Waves" since "Earth Wind and Fire" was already the name of Mikitaka's ambiguous power in Part 4.
** The ''Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan'' spin-offs were originally intended to not be related at all to the series. It was even forgotten to include an already existing character. However, Araki then decided to include Rohan anyway, thus tying these one-shots to ''[=JoJo=]''.
** There were plans to release the ''Vento Aureo'' [=PS2=] game overseas (even having an English title (''[=GioGio's=] Bizarre Adventure'') and [[https://web.archive.org/web/20210522165219/https://static.jojowiki.com/images/6/63/latest/20191015214814/-Gio-Gios-Bizarre-Adventure-PS2-_.jpg box art]]), but this was cancelled for unknown reasons.
** The 2012 anime could've ended up airing on Toonami as early as 2014, as fans were heavily requesting the series for the block around the time when the anime was adapting Part 3. However, Warner Bros., who own the DVD rights to the series, weren't interested in letting Toonami air the series without paying a ludicrous sum of money. It wasn't until Creator/VizMedia were able to secure the rights (at least in terms of Blu-ray releases and merchandising) that Toonami was able to license the series and air it.
