* LimitedSpecialCollectorsUltimateEdition: In the UK, the black and white animated version was given a regular DVD release (matching the rest of the range) in November 2016, followed by a DVD/Blu-ray Collector's Edition steelbook with both black and white and colour versions in February 2017. Notably, the steelbook is the only way to get the colour version on DVD, and the only way to get either version on Blu-ray. The US instead recieved a DVD with both versions, but no Blu-ray release at all. There was also a Special Edition in 2020, which improved the animation and added some new DVDBonusContent.

** Creator/TerryNation was supposed to write this story, but he was busy working on ''The Baron''. It was the first Dalek story that he didn't have a part in writing.
** The original script revealed that the Doctor had been renewed several times in the past; he was to open a drawer in the console which contained relics from his previous incarnations, including an earring and a metal bracelet. The scripts also specified the Doctor's age as 750, included various references to his granddaughter Susan (the Doctor no longer being able to recall where he left her), and also hinted that it might have been the Daleks who destroyed his homeworld.
