** Sarah was voiced by Creator/CatherineDisher for most of her appearances, while Creator/MelanieTonello voiced her in "Family Feuds".

** If you want to go back to the [[WesternAnimation/SabrinaAndTheGroovieGoolies 70s adaptation of the Sabrina series]], the voices were, of course, different from the "Animated Series" counterparts. For instance Jane Webb (AKA Joanne Louise) voiced Sabrina ([[ActingForTwo and Hilda AND Zelda...]]) and Dallas [=McKinnon=] did the purr sounds for Salem.

** Isaac Robinson-Smith replaces Philip Akin as Bishop, AJ [=LoCascio=] replaces Creator/ChrisPotter as Gambit, JP Karliak replaces Robin Rubin as Morph and Creator/RossMarquand replaces Creator/CedricSmith as Professor X. Potter, and Rubin are still in the cast, however, now playing Cable and Robert Kelly, respectively (replacing Lawrence Bayne and Len Carlson in the process). ** They managed to keep the same voice, Creator/NoahReid, for Franklin for five seasons and two films, but then the original voice actor's voice got so deep that it just wasn't working anymore. So they got Creator/ColeCaplan, who had previously voiced a OneShotCharacter named Squirrel, to do the voice. Then, for the final film, they got Cameron Ansell, one of the many voices of WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}. They also ended up replacing the voices of several other characters in later seasons.

** Sarah was originally voiced by Creator/CatherineDisher for most of her appearances, while Creator/MelanieTonello void her in "Family Feuds".

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'':
** Robot Santa. On his first episode ("Xmas Story"), Creator/JohnGoodman (Dan from ''Roseanne'' or Linda Tripp on many a Monica Lewinsky-based political sketch on ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'') voiced Robot Santa. The second time Robot Santa appeared ("A Tale of Two Santas"), Goodman wasn't available, so Creator/JohnDiMaggio was cast.
** Also on "A Tale of Two Santas", Creator/MauriceLaMarche replaced Creator/DanCastellaneta as The Robot Devil because Castellaneta was busy doing voicework for ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' at the time (in the short scene of a robot convict telling Bender to let him know that he's going to be in Robot Hell soon--only to reveal that the Robot Devil heard what he said because he's in the neighboring cell). Fortunately, Castellaneta returned as the voice of The Robot Devil from "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" to the Comedy Central episodes.
** Zoidberg's uncle Harold Zoid is voiced by Creator/HankAzaria in "That's Lobstertainment!", but when he briefly appeared in "The Beast with a Billion Backs", Creator/MauriceLaMarche voiced him instead.
** Creator/BumperRobinson voiced Dwight Conrad in his first two appearances, but Creator/PhilLaMarr (who also voices Hermes) took over the role for every appearance since.
** Creator/KathSoucie voices Michelle's single line in the very first episode, but when Michelle returned with a bigger part in "The Cryonic Woman", she was voiced by Creator/SarahSilverman. Silverman voiced Michelle again in two later episodes, including "Game of Tones" where Fry revisits his memories of the day he was frozen and Silverman dubs Soucie's original line.
** Averted with the entire voice cast when it was rumored that the original voices would be replaced for the Comedy Central episodes. Fortunately, a deal was made, and the original voices returned.
** The entire Latin American voice cast for ''Futurama'' (except Dr. Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan) was replaced for the movies and newly revived episodes, as it was also a victim of the Mexican voice acting strike.
** The Italian dub had three voice changes post-revival: At first Professor Farnsworth's voice was changed (the previous voice actor decided to go from doing dub work for imported cartoons to dub work for live-action imported movies), then the same happened with Zoidberg (the previous voice actor died) and in the final season Bender got a new voice actor too (Dario Penne had lost his ability to sound like Bender).

* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** Spitfire's one line during her debut as an unnamed Wonderbolt in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E16SonicRainboom "Sonic Rainboom"]] [[https://twitter.com/goldenrusset/status/281459773394808832 is]] provided by Creator/NicoleOliver instead of her usual VA Kelly Metzger, who wasn't cast as Spitfire [[https://twitter.com/angelheadhipstr/status/281248563026067456 until]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E26TheBestNightEver "The Best Night Ever"]].
** For a very, ''very'' brief second in the Season 1 episode [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E3TheTicketMaster "The Ticket Master"]], Pinkie Pie is voiced by Creator/ShannonChanKent while performing the Grand Galloping Gala song while speaking.
*** In the Italian dub, Spitfire changed voice in each season until [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E7WonderboltsAcademy "Wonderbolts Academy"]], that introduced her regular voice actress.
** Pipsqueak was voiced by an uncredited William Lawrenson in his first appearance in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E4LunaEclipsed Luna Eclipsed]]". Due to the actor going through puberty afterward, he was replaced by Graham Verchere for all subsequent appearances.
** Flutterguy was originally voiced by Creator/BluMankuma in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E9BridleGossip "Bridle Gossip"]], but as he was hospitalized at the time of recording for [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E14FilliVanilli "Filli Vanilli"]], the role was recast with Alvin Sanders speaking and Marcus Mosely singing.
** Twilight Velvet and Night Light were voiced by Tara Strong and Andrew Francis respectively in their first speaking appearance. When they reappeared again the following season, they were now voiced by Patricia Drake and Charles Demers respectively.
** Pretty much any background pony with a speaking role will have a different voice each time. Some examples:
*** Rose[[AdaptationNameChange /Roseluck]] has had three or four different voices. Compare [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaE-NHtu9Yg this]] to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-e9Q6-Kk_g this]] to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWxwc9Wx0PU this]] to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YrYG3fZCsY this]].
*** [[AllThereInTheScript Sweetie Drops]][[AdaptationNameChange /]][[AllThereInTheScript Bon Bon]] is probably better known for this than any other pony, having a different voice in each of her appearances. By this point even her toy packaging blurb [[LampshadeHanging mentions her talent for changing her voice]]. Further justified in "Slice of Life", where she reveals herself to be a monster-hunting secret agent.
*** Twinkleshine has had up to ''four'' confirmed voices. When she first speaks in the first episode, three actresses (Creator/CathyWeseluck, Creator/NicoleOliver, and Creator/TabithaStGermain) did her voice because of a mistake by an animator. (Three ponies were present in the scene, for the three characters in the script, but only Twinkleshine's mouth was animated to the words. She gains the VoiceOfTheLegion.) When Twinkleshine speaks again in "A Canterlot Wedding - Part 1", she's voiced by Andrea Libman. In "Amending Fences", she's back to Tabitha St. Germain.
*** The twin pegasi Flitter and Cloudchaser were initially [[ActingForTwo both voiced]] by Cathy Weseluck, but the latter later switched to Ashleigh Ball.
*** For her first few speaking appearances as a background pony, Minuette was voiced by the aforementioned Cathy Weseluck, but for her AscendedExtra role in "Amending Fences", her voice was changed to that of series newcomer Rebecca Husain.
** The Hungarian dub has recast a few characters because the series changes its dubbing studio every season. Most notably, Rarity was voiced by Andrea Kerekes in seasons 1 and 3. Since Kerekes was not available for seasons 2 and 4, she was replaced by Ilona Molnar (Diamond Tiara). Discord is usually voiced by Kornel Pusztaszeri, but in "Keep Calm and Flutter On" he was voiced by Karoly Kassai.
** The Romanian versions of the ''Equestria Girls'' movies are recorded in Bucharest instead of Oradea, using none of the TV actors.
** As of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E8AHearthsWarmingTail A Hearth's Warming Tail]]", Princess Luna has a new [[NonSingingVoice singing voice]] courtesy of Aloma Steele, replacing Kazumi Evans.
** The DenserAndWackier spinoff ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyPonyLife'' retained most of the voices for the main characters, but Spike's role was taken over by Tabitha St. Germain, while Peter New replaced Creator/JohnDeLancie as Discord.
** In the Italian dub, along with the Spitfire example from above:
*** Big [=McIntosh=] was originally voiced from Mario Scarabelli, a choice that was hated from many fans since [[VocalDissonance he sounds way older than he should]], but Season 5 replaced him with Lorenzo Scattorin.
*** In the season 5 2-part opener "The Cutie Map" Starlight Glimmer is voiced by Creator/DeboraMagnaghi (who already voices Maud Pie), but was changed to Beatrice Caggiula in "The Cutie Remark" and Season 6.
*** Braeburn was voiced by Paolo De Santis in season 1, but in "Appleloosa's Most Wanted" he is voiced by Renato Novara, allowing for a bit of ActorAllusion (him and Applejack's VA Benedetta Ponticelli are known for being the voices of [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Edward and Alphonse Elric]]).
*** In "Slice of Life", every side character except for Cranky got a new voice: Derpy went from Gea Riva to Valentina Pallavicino, Steven Magnet from Riccardo Peroni to Luca Bottale and Matilda from Lorella De Luca to Caterina Rochira.
*** In "Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep?", Mr. Cake was recasted from Luca Bottale to Andrea Oldani, with a lot of disdain from many fans. Luckily it was a one-time thing, since in "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" Luca Bottale was back on the character.
*** A similar thing happened with Shining Armor: while usually voiced by Patrizio Prata, in "Slice of Life" his crying sounded like Luca Bottale was the one doing his voice, while in ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsFriendshipGames'' Gabriele Marchingiglio voiced his human counterpart, making him the only character who has different voices as an human and as a pony. In "The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows" Patrizio Prata was back on the character, and there was much rejoicing.
*** A hilarious one happened early on in "Ponyville Confidential", in ''the middle of the episode'': Towards the beginning, the fat colt in Apple Bloom's class does a scream of joy, and he is voiced by Paolo De Santis while doing so. But when later in the episode he has another line, [[CrossdressingVoices Gea Riva]] takes the role.
*** In Season 6, only two recasts happened: Garble, originally voiced by Matteo Zanotti, is now voiced by Daniele Crasti (a voice acting newcomer whose only other role at the moment is Rodimus Prime in the redub of Season 3 of ''WesternAnimation/TheTransformers''), and the Flim Flam Brothers, who were both voiced by Creator/SimoneDAndrea in earlier seasons, are now voiced by Gianluca Iacono.
** The Japanese dub has [[DuelingDubs three different voice casts]]. The show made its Japanese debut in 2013 on Creator/TVTokyo, however the dub originally ended after two seasons. In 2019, [=Dlife=] began airing the series, and restarted production on the dub with a new voice cast. They aired seasons 3 and 4 before the channel shut down in March 2020. In December 2021, season 5 onwards began airing on the Disney Channel (which had previously aired re-runs of the previously-dubbed episodes for a time in September 2018), with the voice cast replaced once again, this time switching to a cast of Japanese actors based in South Korea.

* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls1998'':
** The series had some controversy when it was revealed that the original three voice actresses (Cathy Cavidini, Creator/TaraStrong, and Creator/ElizabethDaily) were not invited back to reprise their roles for [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls2016 the 2016 reboot]] in favor of unknown teen actresses (Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides) for "creative" reasons. The actresses, as well as series creator Craig [=McCracken=], have criticized the decision, though they do all wish the new girls well. Averted with several other characters, such as Mojo Jojo, The Mayor, Miss Keane, and the Narrator, for whom their original actors are reprising their roles. Interestingly, while Creator/JenniferHale does reprise her role as Miss Keane, she does not do so for Princess Morebucks (who is instead voiced by Haley Mancini).
*** The Norwegian dub also replaced the girls with new voice actresses. However even they would be replaced, with Blossom changing voice actress by season 2. While the other two getting new voice actresses by season 3. So now all three girls have three individual Norwegian voice actresses each.
** Narrowly averted for the 2002 movie, where the three actresses threatened to go on strike if they weren't paid more, and Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network threatened to replace them, not just for the film, but for future episodes of the series as well. Fortunately, a deal was worked out, and the actresses continued their roles for the film.
** The show also had a couple of cases of this in the transition between the two original pilot shorts and the first TV series. Creator/TaraStrong replaced Creator/KathSoucie as Bubbles, Creator/JenniferHale replaced Creator/KathSoucie as Ms. Keane, Creator/TomKenny replaced the late Creator/ErnieAnderson as the narrator, and Kenny also replaced Creator/{{Jim Cummings|1952}} as the Mayor. Helped that the Mayor was a [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness completely different character]] in his appearance in the short.
** After the actual series began, L'il Arturo of The Gangrene Gang was recast with Tom Kenny after Creator/CarlosAlazraqui voiced him in his first appearance.
** The original ''Whoopass Stew!'' short, due to its status as a student film, had a voice cast made up of series creator, Craig [=McCracken=]'s college friends, including a then unknown different actress for all ''three'' of the girls by name of Jennifer Freid (they spoke in unison all but once). The Amoeba Boys were also voiced by animator Lou Romano, who would later voice the father bird in "A Very Special Blossom" in the actual series.
** The three incompleted shorts of that series (featured in storyboard form on the DVD set with the original voice recordings) also had different voices. Rob Renzetti voiced Mojo Jojo, and HIM (then called simply "The Devil")'s voice was provided by Zeke Kare. In addition, Craig [=McCracken=] himself narrated all four shorts. Genndy Tartakovsky also voiced a minor character.
** Hetty Heyting and Ingeborg Wieten, the original voices of Blossom and Buttercup in Dutch, got blackballed by Cartoon Network in 2008 and 2011. They were replaced with Priscilla Kneteman and Anneke Beukman.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball''
** Gumball was voiced by Nicky Jones (''WesternAnimation/{{Chowder}}'') in the test pilot, while Darwin was voiced by Jake Pratt (''Britain's Got Talent'' and ''The Green Balloon Club'', for all you UK tropers). When the show moved to series, Gumball was voiced by Logan Grove, while Darwin was voiced by Kwesi Boakye.
** Season 3's "The Kids" uses the voice changing as a plot point, with the duo (and, in turn, the voice actors) trying to deal with their changing voices (and, on a symbolic level, their growing up) by making the most of their childhood. But as soon as it seems that the show is going to stick with having Grove and Boakye continuing to voice Gumball and Darwin, the universe resets itself and suddenly Gumball and Darwin have new voice actors who sound younger. This voice actors being Jacob Hopkins (Gumball)[[note]]who based his take on Gumball off Grove's season two voice before it started to crack[[/note]] and Terrell Ransom, Jr. (Darwin)[[note]]who sounds more like Darwin from season one[[/note]].
** Starting from the season 5 episode "The Copycats", Hopkins and Ransom were replaced with Nicolas Cantu and Donielle T. Hansley, Jr., with the voice change being done through a joke at the end of the episode. Shortly into season 6, Hansley was replaced with Christian J. Simon starting from the episode "The Anybody" while Cantu was later replaced with Duke Cutler for ''The Gumball Chronicles''.
** Rupert Degas and Lewis [=MacLeod=] both left after season 1. Degas's roles were taken by Adam Long (Mr. Small, the hippie guidance counselor), Max Cazier (Clayton), Hugo Harold-Harrison (Tobias, Felix in one episode) and Stefan Ashton Frank (Mr. Robinson). [=MacLeod=]'s were taken by Steve Furst (Principal Brown), Hugo Harold-Harrison (Ms. Simian, Rocky[[note]]it should be noted that, as of season 3, Rocky's voice actor is now Simon Limpkin[[/note]]), and Dan Russell (Donut Cop).
** Sussie the chin puppet was originally voiced by Aurelie Charbonnier (the show's storyboard artist and the girlfriend of show creator Ben Bocquelet) in season one when she spoke coherently while Ben Bocquelet did Sussie's voice when she wails, screams, laughs, and makes unintelligible noises. From season two on, Sussie was voiced by Fergus Craig, yet Aurelie's chin was still used for the character and Bocquelet still does the incoherent vocal effects for Sussie.
** In the Italian dub, Gumball and Darwin's voice actors Federico Bebi and Andrea di Maggio were kept around even after their voices cracked... until midway through season 3, where Alessio Puccio and Maura Cenciarelli replace them. The reason is unknown, but probably is because Federico Bebi was recently casted as the titular character of ''WesternAnimation/{{Clarence}}'' and they didn't want to have two Cartoon Network main characters with the same voice.
** In the Brazilian dub, Anais was recast in season five, and almost all students in Elmore Junior High changed voice actors for at least one episode, except for Carrie, Ocho and Sarah. Bobert changed voices constantly; he had a very robotic voice in the beggining of season one, very hard to understand. He changed voice mid-season and stayed with that voice until the end of season two. He only had one speaking role in season three, with a different voice, and then got another new voice in season six that stayed for the rest of the series (except for early season five).

** The Albanian dub generally fluctuates between her being voiced by Luljeta Bitri and Suela Xhonuzi.

** Slider was originally voiced by Creator/TimHamaguchi in all of his appearances until season 10, where he was instead voiced by Creator/AustinDiIulio (who also voiced Fluff), due to Hamaguchi leaving the series after season 9.

** Amy Seadris voiced Dress Up Daisy in Season 2, while [[Creator/GreyDeLisle Grey DeLisle-Griffin]] took over in Season 3.

** Spoofed when Stewie notes that Creator/JimHenson had a "wait and see" attitude about his health, which led to his death and wrong-sounding Muppets (some of which, like Fozzie Bear, actually wouldn't be affected as Henson never performed him).

* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime''
** All the voice actors from the original short, with the exception of Creator/JohnDiMaggio, were replaced when the pilot became a fully-fledged series. But the most interesting example is that Finn's voice actor (Zack Shada) was replaced by his younger brother [[Creator/JeremyShada Jeremy]], because the elder had hit puberty and wasn't able to do his Finn voice. As Jeremy started going puberty too, rather than replacing him, the writers decided to simply have Finn age alongside his actor.
** When Tiffany returned in "One Last Job", his previous voice actor Vincenzo Rauzo was replaced with Collin Dean for every appearance after that.
** Creator/FeliciaDay replaced Creator/LenaDunham as the voice of Betty in Season 9.
** In his first appearance Cosmic Owl was voiced by Jeremy Shada, but was replaced with Creator/MEmmetWalsh for all subsequent appearances.
** Jermaine's first speaking appearance ("Crystals Have Power") had him voiced by John [=DiMaggio=], but when he made his first physical appearance in Season 6 he was voiced by Tom Scharpling of ''Radio/TheBestShow''.
** Huntress Wizard is voiced by Maria Bamford in "Reign of Gunters". In all subsequent appearances she's voiced by Creator/JennySlate.
** Ghost Princess is played by creator Pendleton Ward in "Loyalty to the King" and Maria Bamford in "Ghost Princess".
** In "Five Short Tables", Prince Gumball is voiced by Creator/KeithFerguson instead of Creator/NeilPatrickHarris. In the ''Fionna and Cake'' miniseries, his voice was replaced for a second time by Creator/AndrewRannells.
** In ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTimeDistantLands'', many voices are replaced for other ones.
*** In "Obsidian", Creator/EricaLuttrell replaces Creator/RebeccaSugar as Marceline's mother and Audrey Bennett replaces Creator/AvaAcres as young Marceline.
*** In "Together Again", Corrine Kempa plays Life (she was previously played by Hynden Walch in the shorts) and Tiffany goes from being voiced by Collin Dean to Aryan Simhadri.

Ahmed Best returned for the Season 3 episode, "Supply Lines" and all subsequent appearances.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'': Feodor Chin replaced Creator/BillyWest as Leo Wong starting with "Children of a Lesser Bog" as well as Creator/MauriceLaMarche's Scoop Chang from "Rage Against the Vaccine". Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson replaced Creator/JohnDiMaggio as URL starting with "I Know What You Did Next Xmas", and [=DiMaggio=]'s Barbados Slim "Rage Against the Vaccine". The show was fortunate in that Amy Wong and Hermes Conrad were originally and remain voiced by Creator/LaurenTom and Creator/PhilLamarr, respectively.

** While Lauren Tom voiced Jinx and Gizmo in most of their appearances in the show, Tara Strong filled in for both characters when it came to the episodes "Revved Up" and "Titans Together" in the final season, though Tom would later return to voice the characters in ''Teen Titans Go!''.

He was replaced by Dominic Catrambone for the remainder of the second season, then replaced by Creator/SethGreen for the remainder of the run. As Green sounds noticeably different from Biggs, this was mentioned in-universe as being due to Leonardo's throat being injured.
