-->'''Del''': That's me, that's Del Boy innit? Nothing ever upsets Del Boy. I've always played the tough guy! I didn't want to, but I had to and I've played it for so long now, I don't know how to be anything else! I don't even know how to... Oh it don't matter! Bloody family! I've finished with them! What do they do to you, eh? They hold you back, drag you down... ''and then they '''break your bloody heart!''''' (''slouches and clutches Grandad's chair sadly'')

* In "[[Recap/OnlyFoolsAndHorsesS5E01FromPrussiaWithLove From Prussia With Love]]", a pregnant German woman is taken in by the Trotters, with Del intending to sell her unwanted newborn to Boysie and Marlene to help her make ends meet. It becomes a crisis of conscience however when Anna wants to keep the baby after all and [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone Del realises he is treating the baby more like a business deal.]] As it turns out however, the newborn is a ChocolateBaby. An indignant Boysie refuses to be left explaining such a fiasco and storms off, but Marlene still wants to keep the child and is heartbroken. Del sympathetically leads her out as she breaks down, it being a while longer before she finally becomes a mother.
-->'''Marlene:''' ''(sobbing)'' Still, [[YankTheDogsChain it was a nice dream while it lasted]], eh? I’m gonna turn round now, I’m gonna walk out that door...and I ain’t gonna look back...

-->'''Del Boy''': Freddie the Frog was a professional burglar. He was disloyal to his friends. He was a womaniser, a homebreaker, a conman, a thief, a liar and a cheat. [[Heartwarming/OnlyFoolsAndHorses So no, Rodney. You are nothing like him.]]
** Then the last you see of them is them driving back home in the three-wheeled van. A truly touching and tear jerker moment (and it also doubles as a SugarWiki/{{Heartwarming Moment|s}}) to finish a classic comedy series.

* Any time that Albert mentions Grandad can come across as a real tear-jerker. He is [[Recap/OnlyFoolsAndHorsesS4E02StrainedRelations first introduced]] to the audience at his brother's funeral. That's upsetting enough, but then we learn that the pair [[LongLostRelative did not speak to each other for years]].
** From there, it only get worse. In both [[Recap/OnlyFoolsAndHorsesS4E03HoleinOne Hole in One]] and [[Recap/OnlyFoolsAndHorsesS5E04TeaforThree Tea for Three]] Albert mentions that he and Ted were once as close as Del Boy and Rodney are now. However, they ended up having a massive fall out over [[LoveTriangle a woman]]; [[spoiler: Albert's estranged wife [[HeWhoMustNotBeSeen Ada]]]]. In Albert's own words, Ted never [[ThisisUnforgivable forgave]] Albert for what happened and did not [[GetOut speak to him again]] for the rest of his life.

* While PlayedForLaughs for the most part, Tony Angelino (CWYING!) has a moment of this. After coming to the flat and demanding his payment for his performance - which Del does reluctantly give him - he laments with a trace of bitterness and dejection that while he ''is'' a talented singer and has always dreamt of becoming a star, his speech impediment has made him a laughingstock and he'll never be anything but a wannabe in the world of showbiz. The fact that Rodney can't stop laughing at him for it and how embarrassing the whole affair was (especially for Raquel who had to perform alongside him) only adds to this.

** Fortunately, although they are greatly missed, their great legacy is still shown on TV to this day and continues to draw many laughs from millions of people around the world.
