No meta moment, see this query.

** The prologue, with the dispirited populace and the children saying "Skywalker and Kenobi will come". Also meta because if you're geeky enough to be reading the novelization, you know what's coming later and the entire section talking about what their brotherhood means to everyone is all the more powerful. Doubles as heartwarming and awesome (when they actually do come)... and awesome even more because this is the moment when you know the novel is going to be as awesome or better than the movie.

** Jacen and Tenel Ka's relationship in general was this. In their teenage years they develop a close relationship, bordering on romance, but neither able to admit it. Then comes the Yuuzhan Vong War and everything goes to hell. Jacen is captured, tortured and cut off from the Force, with Tenel Ka presuming he died and forced to take the throne of Hapes. Jacen is then partially corrupted by a former disciple of Palpatine and losses much of his old personality. Despite both surviving the war and the New Jedi Order being accepting of relationships, they can never truly be together because of how treacherous and xenophobic Hapes is. Jacen isn't even able to tell his twin sister that Allana is his daughter.

* ''ComicBook/{{Legacy}}'' is just...painful. 137 years after a farm boy blew up a super weapon to bring freedom and peace to the galaxy, and even after all that time, there could be no peace for the galaxy, and in time his last living descendant even rejected the force.

* Proof that there can be unintentional tearjerkers; in one of the old ''ComicBook/StarWarsMarvel1977'' annuals, Darth Vader finds a rebel wannabe that found his mother's dead body, which is tearjerking enough. Vader walks up to him and sympathizes, telling him that he himself was once in that position. What makes this unintentional is that we're meant to think Vader's lying to gain his trust...but after ''Film/AttackOfTheClones'' came out, it looks more like he's reliving the horrible memories of his mother dying in his arms, and he really ''does'' feel his pain after all...

* The first issue of ''Age of Resistance: General Hux'' has Hux and Kylo stranded in a planet. There, they encounter Bylsma, a former Alderaan Imperial Guard who has survived the destruction of his former planet and had secluded himself for decades to prevent the loss of another home. Hux managed to win Bylsma's trust by presenting Kylo Ren as the son of Alderaan's Princess Leia, and used Bylsma's communications array to call for help. The "help" arrives in the form of Phasma and a group of Stormtroopers, who proceed to kill Bylsma's animal companions and disable his communications array. As Hux and his pary begin to leave, the general announces his intention to use Bylsma's new planet as a target practice for Starkiller Base. Bylsma's utterly bewildered look as he watches this betrayal is heartbreaking, to say the least.

** The death of Ton Phanan in ''Iron Fist''. Creator/AaronAllston is really good both at funny and tears. The author said on [[http://www.aaronallston.com/faq.html his site]]: "Although he feared death, although he struggled against it, Ton Phanan, deep down, didn't want to live." Also, a little earlier, when he is confessing to Face that he feels like his EmergencyTransformation [[CyberneticsEatYourSoul ate his future]], and he's getting farther and farther from who he once was.
** Also, Tycho's Return monologue at the ruins of Alderaan.
--->'''Tycho:''' I am Tycho Celchu, son of Alderaan, now orphan of the galaxy. I have come to this place of my birth to pay homage to who I was and those I knew. And those I loved and love still. It is my wish that when life abandons me, I am returned here to be among you, so that for eternity we may be together as we should have been in life. These gifts are but insufficient tokens of the love for you all that still burns within me. This fighter is another. It bears the colors of the Alderaanian Guard and transmits their code. It is my pledge to you, not of vengeance, but of vigilance. I hope you rest well knowing you will rest alone, because it is my life's work to see to it that no one else suffers as you have. I won't rest until this quest is complete. Rest easy. I miss you all.
