* TacticalWithdrawal: After surviving Kuvira's attack on the warehouse, Bolin reluctantly suggests the heroes do this and flee the city and eventually return to stop Kuvira another day. Mako shoots this idea down, saying there were still evacuees at the train station that were at risk of getting captured or possibly blasted. Korra adds to it by saying she refuses to repeat her failure to save Zaofu and that Kuvira's spirit cannon is a threat to the entire world. Lin, who arrives to see everyone was okay, concurs, saying they take down Kuvira today.

* GodzillaThreshold: It's reached the point where the Earthbenders amongst Our Heroes have taken to toppling buildings onto the Colossus in attempts to attack it. Lin releases [[TheAtoner Hiroshi Sato]] because they need all the genius they can get their hands on (and if the prison is still standing when this is over, she can throw him back in) and Sato himself considers the expenditure of his own life an [[HeroicSacrifice acceptable price to pay]] to breach the armor.

* OpinionFlipFlop: When Wu reveals that his plan is to have a pair of badgermoles dig a tunnel under the city for the evacuees to escape through undetected, one of them asks if it's the best plan they have. A second later, a blast from the Colossus's spirit cannon passes by the window and strikes something outside, prompting the guy to cry "Let's follow the moles!".

** This is also ironically prevents Bataar Jr. from helping Team Avatar bring down his own creation after he switches sides. With every possible weakness taken into account during the development and construction, Junior has ''no'' idea how the hell to stop the Colossus (which is why it takes someone with an outsider perspective like Hiroshi to come up with an outside-the-box solution).

* AchillesHeel:
** The Colossus is functionally unstoppable against stationary and large objects, but has a lot of trouble against small mobile targets like the airbenders. Granted this doesn't mean much considering it is ''much'' more maneuverable than it appears.
** This trope works against the airbenders as while they are able to dodge the beam itself they are still blown away by the shockwave it produces.

* DeathGlare: The episode ends with Korra giving Kuvira one whilst she is inside the Colossus's leg ready for their final showdown.

* OhCrap: Tenzin and Meelo have a moment of this when they realize they came to a landing right in the path of the Colossus's feet when Meelo caught his father's fall. Thankfully, it stepped ''over'' them and went on its merry carnage-inflicting way.

** Kuvira shows genuine panic once she sees that the Hummingbird suit has successfully cut a hole into the Colossus and desperately tries to crush the heroes before they can enter it.

* WouldHurtAChild: Kuvira is well-aware that several of the airbenders are children, but attempts to use her spirit-cannon against them anyway.

* EpicFail: Kuvira's attempt to kill the protagonists instead only manages to injure Baatar Jr., the only person in the group she actually cares for. This also turns him against her to help the heroes.
