When he accidentally triggers the cockpit shield, however, it enters flight mode and goes berserk. The only function Steven manages to use is the signal flare, and that's entirely by accident.

At the same time, Steven forces himself to be more serious in order to reach their expectations. The Cool Kids can sympathize with Steven since they're teenagers with families always trying to impose their will over them, and encourage him to goof around and have a little fun; after all, he's still a kid.
