* EpicFail: Ash throwing 30 Safari Balls and catching a stray Tauros with every single one of them falls somewhere between this and AchievementsInIgnorance. Especially when you consider that Tauros are among the more notoriously hard to catch Pokemon in the Safari Zone, and one of the rarest (with a 1% spawn rate). And Ash caught ''THIRTY'' in one visit. It's telling that ''Pokemon Yellow'' increased the spawn rate to 10%, probably because of this episode.

* SecretKeeper: At the end, the protagonist trio promises Kaiser that they'll keep Dratini's and Dragonair's existence a secret to ensure the Safari Zone doesn't get wrecked by trainers looking for it again.

Moved to here from the YMMV page.

Added DiffLines:

* IdiotBall: For some reason, Ash ''insists'' on diving into the lake to retrieve Team Rocket's bomb himself, even telling Staryu (who brought him down there to begin with) to focus on saving the Warden. What's forgotten is that Misty at this point has at ''least'' two more Water 'mon who could've helped, or even completely gone in Ash's place; she'd specifically sent her Goldeen on a similar mission during the sinking of the St. Anne!

* DisproportionateRetribution: Among other things, Kaiser fires his gun just because of ''singing''.''singing''. Throughout the episode, he also threatens the main cast (of children, mind you) with it, rhetorically asking if they want to get shot, whenever they do so much as say something he doesn't like.

** This is one of several Indigo League episodes featuring realistic firearms, which have never been seen since.

* AchievementsInIgnorance: Ash catching 30 Tauros, without even TRYING to catch or look for them for the most part definitely counts as this. Especially when one considers how in Red, Green and Blue they only have a 1% encounter rate (bumped up to 10% in Yellow likely because of this episode).

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Dratini and Dragonair are referred to by the Pokédex as Legendary Pokemon. Incidentally, The Pocket Monster Encyclopedia, the writers Bible for the original games, also refers to the Dratini line as Legendary.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Professor Oak demands to Ash that he must capture as many Pokémon as he can in the Safari Zone since he hasn't been giving Oak new Pokémon for awhile. Ash uses up all the Safari Balls to get the maximum amount of Pokémon he could capture. The Pokémon he captured? ''[[ALoadOfBull Tauros]]''. [[AnimalStampede All thirty of them, ready to trample Oak when they are transported to his lab]].

A Load Of Bull has been split off into Brutish Bulls and Our Minotaurs Are Different. Removing entries that don't fit either trope.

* ALoadOfBull: Literally. Ash gets 30 of them, and offloads ALL of them on Oak.
