* VillainHasAPoint: Sure, Spellbinder tricked Barbara Gordon into thinking Batman killed Mad Stan. But, his taunt to her proves his point of her biased opinion and how she's ready to believe the worst in Terry. His trick just finally pulled the trigger for it.

* ArtEvolution: Meta example. The preceding episode, "Terry's Friend Dates a Robot", was the final episode of the series and the DCAU to be animated and shot on traditional cels and film. Beginning with this episode, the series (and the DCAU) switches over to digital coloring for the remainder of its run.

* ClearMyName: The entire episode is Batman trying to prove he's innocent when Commissioner Gordon seemingly witnesses him kill Mad Stan. The end reveals that it was an illusion created by Spellbinder.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Remember Barbara's fear of what her father would do to Bruce with her death in "[[Recap/TheNewBatmanAdventuresE12OverTheEdge Over the Edge]]"? Well, she ended up doing ''exactly'' what ''he'' was doing towards Terry.

* IronicEcho: The episode begins with Batman ruining an undercover sting operation, and getting grilled by Commissioner Gordon over it. Close to the end, after Gordon is convinced that Batman killed Mad Stan, and used the full might of the Gotham Police to apprehend him, Batman exposes Spellbinder as the real culprit and reveals that he hypnotized her to make her believe that Batman would kill. Commissioner Gordon eats crow and admits her screw-up, to which Batman smiles and says, "I've been there," and flies off. To her credit, she gives Terry a commendation.

* MoreThanMindControl: While Spellbinder ''did'' cast an illusion on Barbara Gordon to make her believe that she saw Batman murder someone, even ''he'' points out that Barbara's own bias towards Batman did most of the work for him. As he's being arrested, he even takes a moment to taunt Barbara that she was so ready to believe the worst in Batman, "it was easy" to fool her into thinking that Batman actually killed someone in cold blood.

* WholePlotReference: To an earlier DCAU episode, "Over the Edge".

* OnceMoreWithClarity: Barbara sees that Terry had beaten Mad Stan to Death with his own bomb. Bruce accesses the video of the incident and, after dealing with electronic interference, he sees that Terry actually deactivated the bomb and dropped it when Barbara was shooting at him. It turns out Spellbinder made Barbara see differently.
