* VillainHasAPoint: Sure, Spellbinder tricked Barbara Gordon into thinking Batman killed Mad Stan. But, his taunt to her proves his point of her biased opinion and how she's ready to believe the worst in Terry. His trick just finally pulled the trigger for it.

Barbara completely concludes with Spellbinder's point, genuinely apologizing to Batman and doing what she can to make up for him. For the rest of the series, she remains a supporting ally towards him.

* IronicEcho: The episode begins with Batman ruining an undercover sting operation, and getting grilled by Commissioner Gordon over it. Close to the end, after Gordon is convinced that Batman killed Mad Stan, and used the full might of the Gotham Police to apprehend him, Batman exposes Spellbinder as the real culprit and reveals that he hypnotized her to make her believe that Batman would kill. Commissioner Gordon eats crow and admits her screw-up, to which Batman smiles and says, "I've been there," and flies off. To her credit, she gives Terry a commendation.

* MoreThanMindControl: While Spellbinder ''did'' cast an illusion on Barbara Gordon to make her believe that she saw Batman murder someone, even ''he'' points out that Barbara's own bias towards Batman did most of the work for him. As he's being arrested, he even takes a moment to taunt Barbara that she was so ready to believe the worst in Batman, "it was easy" to fool her into thinking that Batman actually killed someone in cold blood.

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: After thinking Terry killed Mad Stan as Batman, Barbara orders Terry arrested. However, she doesn't reveal his identity to any of the GCPD or why they are after him, just saying she wants him brought in for questioning. This is fortunate when it is revealed he was innocent and Spellbinder was framing him, and Barbara covers this up by saying she wanted to present Terry with a civic service award.

* SocietyMarchesOn: Barbara Gordon's speech about how tough her husband, the District Attorney, is on crime seems to make this an unintentional period piece of the 1990s.
