* There's something tremendously disquieting about shooting a Yiga Clansman with an Ancient Arrow, which vaporizes them out of existence. Knowing that defeating them with other weapons simply gives them an opportunity to retreat at the very least, hitting them with the Ancient Arrow is the only way you can kill a sentient person in this game (Not counting Master Kohga, because [[SelfDisposingVillain he did it to himself]]), and since they're not monsters per se, but people, there's a chance that the Blood Moon can't help them, since it doesn't do Master Kohga any favours. You just killed a fellow human being, which is not a common occurrence in other Zelda games...

** It's very possible to be fighting enemies who are reasonably easy to handle, only to have a Guardian come charging out of nowhere to ruin your day. Picture it - you're just casually taking down some Bokoblins and their Moblin leader, so you can get the chest in their camp... and then suddenly a large, spider-like robot comes scrambling into the melee, with a laser pointer centered on you before it blasts you with an energy beam. It can easily turn any normal encounter into a nightmarish fight for survival.

** Another, and perhaps spookier, possibility: as they explore, players might only catch a ''glimpse'' of Farosh and Dinraal, the two dragons free at the beginning of the game, without seeing the whole creature or knowing what it is. Farosh in particular has a habit of diving in and out of pools in the Faron region and around the Bridge of Hylia. Imagine running through a field and only just seeing something ''enormous'' disappearing into the water or soaring into the sky, bigger than any enemy in the whole game and comparable to the Divine Beasts in size. Since there's nothing that informs you about the dragons with the exception of a few Shrine Quests, it's entirely possible that players will mistake these gigantic entities as enemies that they'll have to fight...

* ''Just starting the game'' is oddly terrifying. If it's your first time playing, you don't even get a title screen, just a [[NothingIsScarier soundless, black screen]] with an oddly ominous "Press A to start." Then you think it's just another "Prophetic Dream wakes Link up" opening, only for Link to be revealed to be coming out of some kind of stasis. ''Why was Link in some kind of stasis?'' The traditional three hearts of starting health have never felt more inadequate, as a Blue Bokoblin (as in a level 2 version of the basic enemy) can and likely ''will'' one hit kill you. A few minutes in, and after activating the first tower, you see what you're up against, an EldritchAbomination that swirls around Hyrule Castle and roars into the sky in rage. [[WithThisHerring And there you are in your ratty starter clothes and rusty sword]], tasked to defeat that... ''[[EldritchAbomination thing.]]'' By the time you're done with the Plateau, you've ostensibly learned how to play and progress, and have been given the basic tools needed to do so, but what you've ''actually'' learned is how completely unprepared you are to even begin this journey. Oh, and if you're going the direction the game is gently asking you to, it's entirely possible to get surprised by a ''giant rock monster'' immediately upon getting off the plateau.

* Link can actually ''eat parts of some enemies he kills''. Yes, it's in the form of elixers, but the thought is still disturbing, especially since [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness no other incarnation of Link has explicitly eaten any remains of felled enemies]], with the closest being [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaCDiGames CD-i Link]], and even he was joking when he said he could eat an Octorok. * In a DLC, Majora makes its return since you can have the mask pretty early in the game. It is used like all the masks Hilton created for you, making the ennemies think you are one of their kind. What makes it horrifying is that you don't know if it is the real one that lost consciousness or a simple copy. Just the fact that it looks too real can make everyone doubt.

** Hino at the Dueling Peaks Stable has a... disconcertingly large interest in the Blood Moon. Try chatting him up when it's in the sky. The instant the moon is high enough in the sky to start affecting your surroundings Hino takes off, but if you think he's running because he's frightened you're sorely mistaken. Instead he starts running meaningless laps around the stable while screaming sentences like "Arise, monsters!" in bright red text, and if you talk to him afterwards he can only comment on how red the moon is in mad joy. His overworld speech bubble also uses red text at this moment, which no one else in the game uses. What's more jarring is, if you ask him what moon is up before midnight, he calmly states that it is finally the night of the Blood Moon. This makes his outburst a real MoodWhiplash
