* During the opening cinematic, as Batman is taking Joker back to Arkham, there's a road sign for the aslyum, and underneath it, a yellow warning sign - ''Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Patients''. There's definetly a story there...

*** Scarface (without the Ventriloquist) is the one doing the informative video Sharp does in the regular opening, mentioning that Waylon Jones, aka Killer Croc, is the head of security in this twisted (well, MORE twisted) version of Arkham, and that he has a perfect record, sporting "nothing but empty cells", all but stating that Croc has eaten the patients.

*** Not to mention what happened to the REAL Amadeus Arkham. After his family was murdered by a mental patient named Martin "Mad Dog" Hawkins, Amadeus fried him in the electroshock chair, with everyone assuming it was an accident due to Amadeus spending time ostensibly treating Hawkins. Amadeus himself was eventually committed to his own asylum and died there. The game takes a lot of inspiration from ''ComicBook/ArkhamAsylumASeriousHouseOnSeriousEarth''.

* You can overhear one of the members of Jokers gang talk about how he got recruited - as part of his initiation, the Joker demanded the guy murder his own sister, which he ''did'', without any regret because he "hated the bitch" anyway. The guy he's talking to says the Joker demanded the same thing of him... except he didn't even HAVE a sister, but the Joker kept demanding he do it anyway. So, he went out and murdered some random woman instead, which seemed to satisfy the madman.

*** There's another layer of Batman's fear referenced in this sequence. There have been hints in other media about Scarecrow knowing or at least correctly suspecting Batman's true identity. It gets referenced in this game when Scarecrow, acting as Batman's therapist, sighs that he has been like this ''since his parents died''. Just think about that for a minute.

Which at some point mentions a "kid's facility" for children and teens requiring psychoanalysis. This brings whole new levels of horror. There were kids there? Though most likely they only came for appointments during the day. Like a regular psychiatry.[[note]]Hopefully.[[/note]]

If you count the guards present, you'll notice that the guard who previously told Batman about the suicide collars is no longer there; talking to Zach Franklin reveals that while they were sitting there, a plant ''came through the window and took him away'', showcasing why Ivy being jumped up on TITAN is bad news for everyone on the island.

*** About the only clue clues to the hallucinations is are Batman coughing. coughing and some distortions in the air due to the gas. For the last one, it the coughing follows a female voice asking over the intercom, "Did anyone catch the game last night?" That itself is creepy, but it barely masks the coughing. Then the game freezes and restarts. Even for those aware of the scene, it can catch you off-guard, first time it's seen until the twisted BatSignal appears, even past where we see Joker driving the Batmobile, it very much looks like the game had crashed. [[FridgeBrilliance Bonus points for the line being something that would cause a crash in a faulty game.]]
